Why Invest Your MarketingDollars in Edible Oklahoma City?

Edible readers are concerned, connected, savvy and community minded. Exactly the sort of customers you want. They influence their friends, telling them where to shop, where to eat, what to cook, what to drink and why. And, frankly, they trust us. They know we are an honest, smart, and beautiful publication. With a unique, decentralized publishing model, no other magazine devotes editorial exclusively to local foods and food culture. And that makes our advertisers more attractive from Norman to Guthrie.

A Bi-Monthly Publication with a Circulation of 20,000 Copies Per Issue.

HIGH-VISIBILITY ADS Edible readers tell us that they “read the magazine cover to cover—even the ads.” That means more exposure for you. Our rates are the most cost effective in the region for reaching connected consumers who sincerely care about businesses like yours.

TRUST Because we don’t review restaurants or lean on gossipy stories, our readers trust the businesses we write about and the businesses that advertise with us. That means they are more likely to become new customers for you. These magazines are valuable reference material and are not discarded like general interest or advertising-heavy publications—we always have more content than ads, so you will not get lost in the crowd.

DO YOU ACCEPT ADVERTISING FROM NON-FOOD & DRINK-RELATED BUSINESSES? Yes! But we do have a filter regarding our acceptance policy and we don’t accept just any ad. Our readers appreciate the quality of the advertising and we want to keep it that way. We seek advertising from local, regional, and national businesses that share our values, audience demographic, and commitment to building a thriving and vibrant community.

TARGETED DISTRIBUTION Edible OKC is published 6 times per year and distributed through locally owned businesses in Edmond, Norman, Guthrie, and Oklahoma City: Grocery stores & gourmet stores, coffee shops, bookstores & newsstands, specialty food and beverage merchants, restaurants & hotels, realtor’s offices, Chambers of Commerce, local hospitals, Will Rogers Airport, museums, culinary and hospitality schools, culinary-related exhibitions and events, farmers markets and farm stands. Copies of each publication are also mailed to subscribers and major decision makers from within the culinary and OKC business community.

When it comes to local food, we’re the only game in town.

We cover the thriving food and drink culture in central Oklahoma. That makes us the area’s most targeted publication. In every issue we introduce our readers to the people, places, businesses and organizations who are exemplary, innovative, exciting and that make a difference in our local economy. If you’d like to share your message with our readers by advertising in Edible OKC, please contact us: [email protected].

Other Advertising Options: • Guaranteed positioning available for an extra 15%.• Insert information & quotes available on request.• Ask us about our design services available.

Ad File Format Specifications:• 300+ DPI TIFF or highest-quality JPG, CMYK• EPS or PDF file with fonts embedded or outlined• Please make sure your ad is the correct dimensions (see opposite side) and is CMYK, not RGB.• Full-bleed ads: Please make sure no text is within ¼ inch of the trim-line.

Here are some terms you may need to know:• BLEED - To print right up to the edge of the page, printers print past the edge of the page, then cut it to size. The area that’s printed on, but is cut off, is called the bleed.• HIGH-RES/DPI - Dots Per Inch, also called resolution. This describes how many dots are printed in one square inch of paper. Computer monitors have much lower resolution (72) than print (300+), so images that look big on your computer need to look huge on your computer to look good in print.• CMYK/RGB - Our printer combines Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black to make colors. Computers use Red, Green, and Blue.• TIFF - An image file format that is very large, but doesn’t compress the image to save space, and so is great for print.• JPG - A compressed image file format that trades quality for a smaller file size. jpg’s can be used as long as they are set to high quality (low/no compression) and are at least as big as the size required (see the opposite side for pixel dimensions for ads).

For New AdvertisersThis guide outlines our policies, best practices for ads, and guidelines to creating an effective ad. If you have any questions, please contact Jen Snow (405)706-0658 or [email protected].

How Our System Works

GATHERING MATERIALS Send all the company assets for the ad through your ad rep. This includes anything that might be used in the ad, including: Logo, company colors, business hours and other information, photos you’d like to use, etc. Please keep in mind that print publications require high-resolution images, particularly with larger ad sizes. Consult the Advertising Rates sheet, which details pixel sizes for the various ads. This is true for both pictures as well as logos. If needed, we offer design services to create a new logo, or to recreate a low-resolution logo at print resolutions.

GATHERING INFORMATION Your ad representative should also ask about your goals with the ad, such as getting more soccer teams in to a trophy shop, announcing a new location, or promoting an event. Additionally, try to get a sense of the “vibe” you want to get across: High-end, family friendly, etc.

PROOFING Once a design has been made, we’ll send you an email with a link, and from that link you can see the ad proof, add notes, and accept or decline the proof. If you decline the proof, please give concrete advice about what you’d like to change (“I think the logo should be bigger”), and avoid vague language (“it needs to pop”).

REVISIONS AND APPROVAL We’ll create ad proofs for you, and take feedback until you have an ad that will run in the magazine. We try to complete ads within about 1-3 revisions

Advertisers taking advantage of our free design services are expected to read and understand this guide. What Ad Design Covers

• Assembling your ad from elements provided by the company.

• Several proofs or iterations of the ad.

• Ads may be changed each issue. If you plan on having a new ad each issue, we recommend having a basic template that can be changed to suit the changes, and to develop a year-long plan on exactly what you’d like to emphasize in each issue.

• Finding stock images, good fonts, etc., for use in the ad.

• Advice on content, placement, and general design.

• Use of your free ad in other publications (although we do not offer resizing to others’ specifications).

What Ad Design Does Not Cover• Logo design. Your logo is the face of your company, and deserves

more time and thought than we can offer for free.

• Logo resizing. A common problem is that companies have a logo, but do not have a high-resolution image. This can usually be done for between $60 -100, depending on the complexity and source materials.

• Excessive iterations/proofs. We don’t like putting a number on how many proofs is too many, because some changes are trivial, and others are complex. In general, we try to finish within 1 to 3 revisions of the design, and 5 is outside the norm.

• Resizing for other publications’ specs. Although we have no problem with businesses reusing ads designed by Edible OKC in other publications, they often need to be resized to match their ad sizes.

• Photography. We work with a variety of fantastic photographers, and enthusiastically endorse their work. We’d be happy to refer them to your business.
