The 15 unique and attractive rooms offer a variety of

The smoked salmon served at Brasserie

De Kuip is not just smoked salmon but

smoked salmon with a touch of Holland’s

most holy grass. After the salmon has

been caught in Norway, it is smoked cold

for ten hours with grass from De Kuip,

On competition days, the players eat a

hot, carbohydrate-rich meal three hours

prior to kick-off. For a game that starts at

half past twelve, this means eating pasta

at 9:30 am. Often, a piece of chicken

breast is part of the sport meal. It is easy

to digest, unlike red meat.

After each match and training session,

the players have to drink a shake rich in

carbohydrates and protein. Right after

an intense workout, the muscles are still

well supplied with blood. As a result, the

carbohydrates and protein are quickly

Players must regularly weigh themselves

before and after training or a match. The

difference in weight indicates the amount

of fluid lost. The player must drink one

and a half litres of fluid for each kilogram

lost. And to think that players who

perspire heavily sometimes lose two and

a half kilos of fluid during a match!

game, the players often eat at a hotel

or restaurant in the neighbourhood

of the hosting city. The chef of the

establishment is sent a food list ahead

of time with everything the players need.
