Graduation Requirement Additions for Class of 2018
• Online class (if it is a full credit class, you must take the whole course– half credit classes count for this requirement).
• Ideas: Driver’s Ed, Social Media, Personal finance, Parenting.
• OCVS classes through FLVS.net – OC teachers
• Blended American gov’t class senior year can be used as online requirement.
Scholar Diploma Designation
• Algebra II
• Statistics or Equally rigorous math
• Chemistry or Physics
• 1 credit in Equally rigorous to chemistry or physics
• 2 credits in same world language
• Earn 1 credit in AP, IB, AICE or Dual Enrollment course.
• Pass Biology EOC
• Pass Geometry EOC
• Pass Algebra II EOC
• Pass U.S. History EOC
A student is exempt from the Biology or US History EOC if student is enrolled in an AP, IB or AICE Bio or history and takes the AP, IB or AICE assessment and earns min score for college credit
Merit Diploma Designation

Expand Your Limits• Admission into Florida’s State Universities is
limited by space available. • To increase their chances for admission into
college, students should exceed the minimum high school diploma requirements.
• Research Early Action/Early Decision for each university you are interested in.
• Take honors and AP classes when available BUT DO NOT DROP THEM ONCE YOU HAVE SUBMITTED YOUR APPLICATION.
Post Secondary Process
• Application (typically online)
• Transcripts to be sent (order through School Pay)
• SAT/ACT scores to colleges – JUNIORS MUST TAKE SAT/ACT SPRING OF JUNIOR YEAR!!!!
• SAT School Day Administration for Juniors will be March 1st.
• 11th grade is the year to increase your GPA (class rank is calculated in September of your senior year).
• NOTE: Even if you are taking the SAT/ACT again, apply in Fall and then check the box saying you are taking the test again.

Information about State Universities
• Let’s take a look at the SUS Matrix (this document compares the 12 State Universities in Florida)http://www.flbog.edu/
• Top 10 UCF Knights Program (automatic acceptance if in top 10% of class – weighted rank). Must apply by their specified deadline.
• Talented 20 – If you are in the top 20% of your graduating class you are guaranteed admission given space and fiscal limitations to one of the 12 state universities.

Valencia College, Seminole State and 2 Year Programs
• AA Program transitions to state universities as juniors – Direct Connect Valencia to UCF
• Bridges to Success Scholarship (summer program) –full tuition for 2 years at Valencia. Apply during your senior year. You must apply to Valencia first, then apply for the scholarship.
• Honors programs-(HSU 3.0 GPA and above)

Florida Academic Requirements
• Same as last year – 16 core credits (college preparatory)– 4 English, 4 math, 3 sciences, 3 required social studies, 2
Foreign language (sign language is okay)– 3.5 weighted GPA (unrounded) in those 16 core classes (or up
to 18) courses Bright Futures WEIGHTS HONORS AND AP THE SAME (.5 POINT UP) A=4.5
– 100 Community Service Hours– Test sub-scores can be used from multiple testing dates (not
mixed from different test types)– No End of Course assessment credits required
– ACT = 29 Composite (excludes writing section)– SAT = 1290 (critical reading and math)

• Same as last year – 16 core class credits (college preparatory)– 3.0 weighted GPA (unrounded) in 16 core classes (or up to
18) courses – Bright Futures WEIGHTS HONORS AND AP .5 POINT UP (A=4.5)
– 75 Community Service Hours– Test sub-scores can be used from multiple testing dates
(not mixed from different test types)– World Language Completer accepted for World Language
Requirement
– SAT = 1170 (critical reading and math)– ACT = 26 Composite (excludes writing section)

Florida Gold Seal VocationalRequirements
• Same as last year:– 16 credits (core classes required for HS graduation)
• 3.0 weighted GPA (unrounded) in those 16 core courses
– 3 career/technical credits in one vocational program• 3.5 unweighted GPA (unrounded) in those 3 credits
– 30 Community Service Hours– Test Scores
• SAT = 440 Critical Reading and 440 Math• ACT = 17 English, 19 Reading, 19 Math• PERT = 106 Reading, 103 Writing, 114 Math
– Test sub-scores can be used from multiple testing dates (not mixed from different test types)
