Kuna School District
Kuna School District Focus of Visit: The Kuna District has been working to implement MTSS on many levels.
Attention to Tier 1 instruction with the help of our METIS coaching was last year’s main emphasis. We are using data reports, i.e. MAP and AIMSwebreports and Quadrant Analysis to better determine who should receive intervention and what intervention should include to fill the gaps. The Middle School brought on one-to-one Chrome Books with Khan Academy for the whole school. Other areas of emphasis for both schools have been components of formative assessment, writing instruction, and development of intervention. The Kuna District has developed an extensive on-line system of procedures that are utilized district-wide. This year our work has been on refining and improving intervention. Tier 1 continues to be also refined with the introduction of the Lucy Calkins writing approach and PD in formative assessment eliciting evidence and feedback. With this observation we hope to gain observational data on levels of implementation and use of learning targets and eliciting evidence as well as general observations of Tier II interventions. We hope to discuss these observations as well as math intervention and materials
