LIMIT REVISIONS OUR DESIGN TEAM A GREAT EXPERIENCE

We’ve recruited world-class artists to make sure your vision becomes reality. This brief is just an overall guide for our artists, feel free to add or delete slides as necessary to convey your input.

In order for us to make hundreds of posters for free we must limit the design revisions to just two. Please keep this in mind, and make this brief as accurate as possible! Don’t worry, we’ll work with you, but let’s try to get it right the first time!

Squadron Posters takes pride in creating lasting artwork and lasting relationships. Please let us know if there’s anything we can do to make this experience better!

Let’s make some amazing artwork together! We can start designing once we see your ideas.

What makes a Squadron Poster?

Travel Adventure BeautyWe create posters featuring iconic skylines and landmarks…Of course, McChord AFB isn’t in Seattle but if you’re stationed there, your adventure surely involves the Space Needle! This is what makes Squadron Posters different–it’s about remembering where you’ve lived and what you’ve seen with a vintage-themed travel poster.

Let’s make artwork so beautiful you’ll hang it in your living room! Anyone can illustrate a gray aircraft on a white background. At Squadron Posters we make original, stunning artwork!

Think about the travel and adventure that makes your poster unique.

Use themes such as “visit”, “come see” or any other clever or creative idea you can come up with!

Keep it clean and simpleLook at your favorite

designs, less is more!Be open to colors outside of

a blue sky, green trees, and gray aircraft (this is a photograph)…vintage prints are about unique color schemes!

Be creative!

Dont’sWe strongly suggest limiting

patches to 2 or lessDon’t cram too many aircraft

onto a poster. It looks crowded & just plane bad (no pun intended)

Don’t try to make everyone in your organization happy (it’s impossible!)

Try not to focus on base buildings, instead focus on the experience around the base.

Don’t make the audience too narrow

Most issues revolve around requesting too much on one poster (keep it simple!)

Example: The 6th Airlift Squadron (6 AS) is part of the 305th Air Mobility Wing at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey. It operates the C-17A Globemaster III supporting the United States Air Force global reach mission world wide. McGuire is only 45 minutes away from Philadelphia, an hour from Times Square, NYC and right near the famous Jersey Shore. It’s the oldest airlift squadron in the Air Force! The squadron name is “the Bully Beef Express”.

The Napkin Drawing: this is the most important tool for your artist. Create a rough sketch of your poster design idea. Don’t worry about your artistic skills, we just use the sketch to ensure everything fits and it gives us a direction for the overall layout. Draw on!

Aircraft/Ships specifics: Please place a photo here with arrows pointing out the specific antennas, prop blades, pods or anything that we need to know to make the right model. Find a photo that is from the same angle you wanted in your napkin drawing. Also, please don’t point out anything classified, keep it to “this” and “that”.

Replace this with photo with your own, use arrows for important things.

Typography: What is your poster going to say? We recommend a top and bottom line as options for your artist. Ultimitely, it will be up to them to do what fits best on the design. Make sure to type exactly what you want because our artist will copy and paste from here (e.g. 345 Sq vs 345th SQ)
