Trevor Grice brought the philosophy of Life

Education to New Zealand from a

pastor in Australia known as Ted Noffs. We have now been going for 22 years in

New Zealand.

Resources and mobile classrooms are available to every child in New Zealand.

OUR MISSION

To help give the young people of New Zealand, through positive health-based education, the

knowledge and skills to raise their awareness to live a fulfilling and healthy life.

Community Trusts in NZCommunity Trusts in NZ• There are 38 Community Trusts in NZ, of which 8

are based in District 9940.• All schools are invited to have Life Education in their

schools at a time that is convenient for them.• The school is asked for $2.50 incl. GST per student

for them to attend the Life Education lessons in the mobile classroom (Intermediate students $3.00). Every child also receives a workbook and a sticker.

• The actual cost for each student to undertake the programme is approximately $16.

• Every student has 2 – 3 lessons in the mobile classroom, depending on their age. The duration of each lesson is between 40 minutes – 1 ½ hours.

Curriculum document. Every school receives a Teacher’s Resource Folder which outlines the programmes and the

specified learning intentions.

Life Education offers 19 health programmes that cover 5 strands:

• Self Esteem• Food and Nutrition• Body Systems• Social Relationships • Substances (Year 5-8 students)

• Harold is our very special giraffe friend.

• He travels to as many different schools and events that we can take him to.

• His favorite activity is attending assembly with students.

Giraffes are unique just like us!

* Their spot pattern is a bit like our fingerprint pattern – no two are the same.

* Giraffes are tall – and we want students to stand tall and be proud.

* They are big hearted creatures, with their heart being about the same size as a basketball.

* Long necks – we need to stick our necks out and support one another.

Inside the mobile classroomInside the mobile classroom• Our mobile classrooms are

fitted with large screen projector televisions which enable us to work our programmes through a series of DVD's.

• Electronic resources are available in the form of body systems, a life sized doll who teaches about the body (TAM), PAT (Pull Apart Torso), hand puppets and the brain.

• All mobile classrooms have star patterns in their ceiling and coloured lighting to add to the effect.

Rotary And Life Education NZRotary And Life Education NZ• In 2009 we visited 1303 schools and saw 223,000 children.

• In Rotary District 9940 we saw over 41,000 children via 9 mobile classrooms.
