Residency Program Details
• Two cohorts per year of 100 RNs each
• Trained in our inpatient Medical/Surgical and Telemetry units
• Comprehensive evidence-based clinical orientation in addition to a 12-month transition-to-practice supported by Vizient and AACN’s nationally recognized curriculum
• Secure a regular benefited Staff Nurse II position within one of our 21 medical centers
• Complete an evidence-based change in practice (EBP) project to graduate from the program

in each hub
Dispersed across all 21 medical centers for mentoring, professional development, and to complete the
residency program

• Nurse residents are hired as a Staff Nurse I, into a 12-month limited duration, benefited, training position
• At month four, residents will receive a new schedule of 0.9 FTE or greater
• All residents are eligible to bid into Staff Nurse II positions after orientation and can assume awarded Staff Nurse II position at 6 months

Eligibility Requirements & Program Commitment
Licensure and Certification
• Active CA RN License at time of application
▪ For both 2021 cohorts this requirement is waived, must have license within 14 days of hire in order to fulfill conditions of employment
• BLS required upon hire
Education
• Have an associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in nursing at time of application
• We prioritize candidates that have graduated within the past 2 years
Important Notes
• Less than 6 months of inpatient (acute-care) work experience
• No paid time off or vacation (except protected leave) for first 3 months
• Commitment to complete the 12-month training program
• Commitment to securing a 0.8 FTE or greater M/S/T position at one of our 21 hospitals after orientation
• May require some travel during first 12 months

▪ Continue to check our website for updates regarding application timelines
2. Visit https://www.kaiserpermanentejobs.org/ and search for the associated job code
▪ There will be a total of 1 position posted on KP Jobs, we will post the job code on our residency website
▪ If you are selected for an interview, you will be asked for your training hub preference
▪ If you receive an offer, we will try to match you to your medical center (hospital) preference within your hub
▪ If you are a current KP employee, please apply via the internal KP Jobs site
3. Watch your email DAILY after applying; check spam, etc.
▪ You will get a follow up email from KP requiring additional answers to be submitted within 48 hours of receipt
▪ After completing this, it will take about a week before you hear from us again
▪ Selected candidates will receive a follow up email to self-schedule their interview

Interview Process
• Virtual group interviews with 5 other residents and 2 KP nurse leaders
▪ 10-minute PowerPoint presentation that articulates your personal and professional journey to becoming a nurse
▪ Prepare in advance and present to the group
▪ Interviews week of 8/23
• Following your interview, you will be notified of hiring decision within 1 week
▪ We will also notify all candidates who are not selected
