We have made a few changes to the building and your visit will be
different from before. This to make your visit safe and enjoyable.
We have introduced a time ticketing system. Please pre-book
your slot before visiting and take your ticket with you on the day.

You can be shown around by a Volunteer Guide or use an Audio
Guide Handset on a Self-Guided Visit.You will be able to select the type of visit you would like when booking your visit through our website.
On arrival at the Museum , you will be greeted by one of our
friendly Volunteers who will check your ticket.

There is a one-way route throughout the Museum
This is to ensure everyone’s safety and to help maintain social distancing.
This is the Main Entrance
The Entrance is via the main door at the top of the ramp next to the car park’. The reception desk is straight
ahead. This is where you can show your pre-booked ticket and be introduced to your Tour Guide.
If you have opted for a Self-Guided Tour, you will be issued with an audio guide handset here.
Museum Staff and Volunteers all wear a dark green name badge.
You will also see staff and volunteers wearing face masks or face coverings like this.
This is the Café. You can visit before or after your tour.
You will not need to pre-book a table to visit the Café.
This is the Grant Room
You can learn about the history of The Gordon Highlanders from 1794-1994. You can see uniforms,
memorabilia, weaponry and medals.
The hands-on elements of the tour have been withdrawn until further notice.
The WW1 film is available. It will play on a loop and lasts 17 minutes. You can sit an watch it.
This is the Armoury
You can learn about the history of The Gordon Highlanders from 1794-1994. You can see firearms
and weaponry in cases. You can ask your Guide to see the medals in the metal cabinets by the wall.
This is the Silver Room
You can see trophies, quaiches and Mess Silver. The lighting levels are lower and being a small
gallery, there is not much space.
You can sign-up to visit our Museum WW1 Trench.
You can visit our WW1 replica trench by signing up for a tour at reception. Please note, these tours are
available on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to weather conditions.
The fire alarm makes a loud sound.
If you hear it during a visit, Museum staff will guide you out of the building through the nearest fire exit
to gather at the Sentry Box in the car park.
Do not go back inside the building unless a member of staff tells you it is safe.
