Welcome to the first day of my take-over of your English 10 class.

I don’t really know any of you so we are going to start with an ice breaker activity…

MISS JAMES

…Do you like candy?

Hopefully everyone here already had a healthy breakfast and has room for some sweets…

Here is what you are doing:

1. Take out a blank sheet or half-sheet of paper.

2. Take 1-2 pieces of candy. (That is one to two. Not twelve.)

3. Don’t eat them yet!

4. Number your paper with as many candies as you have, then list your candy. (For example: 1. Snickers, 2. Milky Way; or 1. Charleston Chew, 2. M&M)--Leave room for writing, so skip every other line--

5. Take this time to look around and see what others around you picked.

6. Now, according to what candy you have, fill in the following information…

THE ICE-BREAKER

Any of the write about 2 of your favorite hobbies

or write about your favorite place on earth

or write about your favorite memory

Any of the candies write about your dream job

or write something unique about yourself!

IF YOUR PICKED…

If you picked a Charleston Chew you can pick any of the questions below. Also, thank you for taking away the Charleston Chews.

Let me lead by example…Some of my Favorite hobbies are crafting, cooking, going to local punk rock shows, my cats, and reading. I am also the “merchandise

coordinator” for a local band that some of you (Aniah) might be interested in! They won the Sacramento Sammie for Best New Punk

Band in 2012

Avenue Saints.

THE ICE-BREAKER

My favorite place on Earth is England! It is also where I had my favorite memory: I went to a punk music festival in England when I was 16, and spent my 17th birthday there with my mum’s side of

the family (birthday picture below):

THE ICE-BREAKER

Unique? Me? No…I have participated in the extreme sport of roller-derby

THE ICE-BREAKER

I have a one eyed cat named Angus (who used to be a cross-eyed cat)

THE ICE-BREAKER

And my other cat, Boback, is an amateur show cat:

He won first place twice, and second place once. What a trooper!

THE ICE-BREAKER

• I am from a military family and have lived all over California, from the high desert to the major cities. From OC to LA to

Oakland to Sac. • I am a word-nerd. I look up words (and their history) for kicks!• I like integrating music and videos into my classes whenever

possible.• I am tech savvy, so feel free to holler at me if you ever have a

question!

WHAT ELSE…?

We are going to go around the room and share what we have written, like I just did with you! This should only take about 1-2 minutes per person. I have a stop-watch so I’ll let you know if you need to move

along!

Let’s start with Alberto, then move on to Ritthichai!

YOUR TURN.
