ST FRANCIS DE SALES BIBLE STUDY GROUP Fall is fast approaching and it is again time for the Bible Study Group to begin a new session. This session we will study the Book of the Prophet Isaiah. In this study we will learn about the primary role of the prophets which is to speak, to see and to hear as God sees and hears and then to pronounce words of correction and hope. The Fall Bible Study session is a 13 week session that will meet every Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Parish Hall from Sept. 13–Dec. 6. There is a $15.00 fee. It is ok if you can’t attend every class. The Bible Study group will begin its 5th year this Fall. We always welcome new members who are interested in learning more about the Bible and enjoy working with a great group of people. If you would like to register for the class or have any other questions, please contact Pat Cramer at (262) 327-4303 or [email protected]

MASSES OF THANKSGIVING – FR. JOHN BAUMGARDNER, SUNDAY, SEPT. 10 Dear Parishioners of St. Francis de Sales, Peace of Christ! Thank you very much for all of your prayers and encouragement these past few years. It has been a great joy to be a priest of Jesus Christ. Thank you to those who were so generous with their time and made the trip up to Milwaukee to be present for my ordination – it meant so much to my family and I. Already in these first few days of priesthood, I find myself drawing upon my experiences in Lake Geneva and the things I learned, as I help minister to the parishioners at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist where I have been assigned for the summer. As a small way of saying “thank you”, I will be celebrating the 9:00 and 10:30 AM Masses on Sunday, Sept. 10. I appreciate Fr. Mark for kindly giving me this opportunity. Please know of my continued prayers and gratitude for all of you.

Thanks and God Bless, Father John Baumgardner

FALL FESTIVAL—WANTED GIFT CARDs! Chances are you have a gift card in your wallet right now with a few unspent dollars left on it (or possibly for a store you might not have a chance to get to). You’d like to use it somehow, and you certainly don’t want to throw it away! If you saw a box where you could simply drop it in for a good cause – you might just donate it - wouldn’t you? In support of one of our festival events, we are looking for donations of Gift Cards or Certificates –INCLUDING partially used gift cards to ANY ESTABLISHMENT in ANY AMOUNT! There will be a donation jar set up in the parish office for collection. SILENT AUCTION ITEMS! If you or your business would be interested in donating New unused items or Gift Certificates to the auction, please stop by the parish office to pick up a Donation Form and return it to us by Sept. 8. Thank you for your support!

IT’S TIME TO THINK ABOUT R.C.I.A. The RCIA program will begin here at St. Francis. These classes will benefit anyone who is interested in learning more about the Catholic faith. If you were never baptized, if you were baptized in another denomination or if you were baptized and raised Catholic, but you left the church for some reason and you now would like to return , these classes will help you. Attending these classes do not obligate you in any way. Any choices you make regarding your faith life are strictly up to you. But if you have been feeling “called” to explore your faith life, the RCIA will help you to find answers. For more information call Geri Braun at (262) 249-9590 or Lisa Parker at (262) 315-4227.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND SECOND COLLECTION FOR SIDE BY SIDE, INC. Did you know Side by Side, Inc, is a Parish Affiliated Organization? If you look on the website under Get Involved > Volunteer Opportunities > Parish Affiliated Organizations you will find a little information about the organization. Briefly, we provide short term, urgent financial help for rent, utilities, and prescription medication for families living in the Badger School District. We also provide education about other community resources to help families meet other needs. Your generous donations literally help people stay in their homes and keep the utilities connected. The second collection for Labor Day weekend, Sept 2/3 will be to continue the mission of Side by Side. Many of our parishioners and visitors have supported Side by Side in the past through the second collection, or by participating in a fundraiser. You may be familiar with our dinners at Simple Café (the next one is Sept 21!), or the ornaments we sell before Christmas. Because we are an all volunteer organization, nearly 100% of your donations go directly to families in need. Side by Side also welcomes new members at any time! Many of your fellow parishioners are active volunteers. Our business meetings are at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 715 Wisconsin Street in Lake Geneva. We meet our clients for screening on the third Tuesday of the month at the same location. If you would like to be involved as a volunteer, please feel welcome to come to a second Tuesday business meeting, or call Sue Bulla, (262) 248-4130 for more information. If you know of a family in the Badger School District that needs help with rent, utilities, or prescription medication, they are welcome to come to a third Tuesday screening. Proof of residency, landlord contact information, and/or current utility bills are required. Thank you in advance for you generous contribution to the second collection Labor Day weekend for Side by Side!
