HELLO AND CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2020! What an exciting time it is to graduate high school and begin the next season of life as young adults, especially in this time. If you have not heard, Quo Vadis ([kwoh] + [vaa] + [dis]) is a Catholic young adult community in the Mercer, Auglaize, Shelby, and Darke County area. What that means: it’s a group of young people (18-26) from all over the area who get together to grow in friendship and enjoy life while growing in their faith with one another. Ultimately they are striving to live life together and seek after Heaven! We would love for you to come check out any of the different things we have going on: from our Sunday Night Speakers, Rec Night, Volunteer Events, and Men’s/Women’s Events. Feel free to reach out to Joelle at 419-852-7815 or Jacob at 419-852-7780 with any questions!

YOUTH MINISTRY BULLETIN ANNOUNCEMENTSunday, May 31, 2020
Youth MinistryPentecost: Today we celebrate the feast of Pentecost and this year it is filled with added meaning. There are obvious parallels that are easily recognizable. We are coming out of a period of time when like the apostles and Mary were afraid to leave the upper room, many of us were afraid of going out and staying at home because of coronavirus restrictions, with the most difficult restriction being the fact that we could not worship and receive the Eucharist at public Mass. Today as you know marks the first weekend when we are again having public liturgies. Pentecost is the day when we celebrate how the apostles were filled with Holy Spirit which empowered them to leave the upper room and proclaim the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the church was born. It gives us an idea of how much joy, freedom, and courage that the Spirit gave them. Today we too are filled with the Holy Spirit and rejoicing for once again we can leave our homes and join together to share in our Eucharistic celebration. We are reminded and comforted by the fact that the Holy Spirit is alive and well and working in our lives and in the church. May God shower down His Spirit upon us, giving us faith and direction in our church and in our families. Let us join together along with the Apostles in opening our hearts and our lives to the power of the Holy Spirit who is calling us to courageously venture out of our comfort zones, proclaim Jesus Christ in our lives, and make new beginnings and take new steps to holiness moving us to resemble more and more the saints in heaven.
Steubenville Youth Conference: As most of you already know, the Franciscan University has made the heart wrenching decision to cancel all of the Steubenville Youth Conferences 2020 due to COVID-19. All down payments and final payments will be refunded. We had a large group registered to attend and this news has been a disappointment. However, we are already looking forward to next year. Hopefully, as society slowly begins to open up, we will be able to find some ways to have ministry happen this summer right here in Versailles. We will have to wait and see if restrictions continue to be eased and relaxed.
Kentucky Work Camp: As of now we are hopeful that we can still have the Kentucky Work Camp from June 22-25. All students in grades nine through twelve for the upcoming academic year are welcome to sign up and register under the contingency that it could also end up being cancelled depending on how the opening up process goes in June. Detailed flyers and forms are available at the main entrance of St. Denis Church. Updated information will be dispensed as we receive direction from the Archdiocese.
High School Youth Leaders: We will begin forming High School Youth Leaders for the 2020-2021 youth ministry year. After the weekend of May 30-31, there is a possibility that we could have a youth leader’s meeting. Mike will be contacting potential leaders. If you would like to be a high school youth leader, feel free to contact Mike by text or phone at (937) 638-0969.
High School Youth Leader’s Meeting: Our initial meeting for High School Youth Leaders is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, at 7:00 p.m. We will practice social distancing. The meeting will be held in the St. Denis Church basement. All high school youth leaders for the 2020-2021 school year should attend. In the event that the meeting cannot yet happen, Mike will contact all those who are involved.
FIRST COMMUNIONhas been Rescheduled to June 14th at 1:30 p.m. at St. Denis. First Communion Parents, please check your email! First Communion will be June 14th at 1:30 at St. Denis. Each Family will be allowed one pew.
This Solemnity makes us remember and relive the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and the other disciples gathered in prayer with the Virgin Mary in the Upper Room.
