Transcript of Welcome to the akiba library p pt2
Welcome to the
Akiba LibraryMs. Cunningham
2010-2011
Last year Mrs Roth’s 4th grade students helped me create this tour of the Akiba Library.
These slides will help you become familiar with how the library works and where certain kinds
of books are located.
• The Akiba Library serves students and teachers for pre- school to 8th grade
• It houses about 14,000 books.• We have been automating the library the last
few years and are now using an electronic catalog rather than a card catalog system this allows us to do cataloging and circulation on a computer
If you want to find a book you can search the online catalog.
You can search by Title, Author or
Subject
If you are looking for a fiction novel or non-fiction book you can find them on the tall shelves by the windows
If the book you are looking for is a paperback you can find them on shelves and round metal rack by door
Easy chapter books and
readers can be found on this special cart
‘E’veryone or picture books can be found
here
Texas Bluebonnet Books are located
here
New books and recommended books can be found here !
Students also enjoy being read to in the library
If you take a book from the shelve in the library but do
not wish to check it out, please place it on the blue shelving cart or flat on any table. Do not stick it back on shelves or misshelve it
that makes it impossible for anyone else to ever find it.
When you find a book that you’d like to check out bring it to the circulation desk where I’ll be
happy to check it out for you !
If you want to return a book you can return them to the blue basket on the circulation desk in the library or to the blue
wheeled basket which is located in the lower school.
