A Year in Review

A new school year approaches…
• New students• New activities• More fun than ever
More fun you say?
• Taking pictures is the natural way of capturing the memories.
• Your students grow up so fast!
How do you share your memories?
• Build a digital memory album!• It’s easy!
Preparation…
• Select photographs to use– Digital- 640x480, 72 pixels serves the
purpose– Paper – Needs to be scanned at low
resolution.• Do not use computer printed photos to scan.
Images will not be clear
• JPEG format for pictures is best• You’ve Got Pictures!
Equipment..
• Computer with Microsoft PowerPoint– Office 2000
• Download photo album plug-in from the MS Download center at www.microsoft.com/downloads.
• Search for album.EXE
– Office XP & 2003 already have this plug-in installed
Photos
• Create file folder to store ALL photos in until ready to create photo album
Have everything? Let’s Create!
Step One…
• You need to open the photo album format as a new presentation– File>New>General> PhotoAlbum
• Click File/Disk and find the file folder with your pictures
To Choose…• Click on the first picture then scroll
down to the bottom of the list.• Holding down the Shift key, click
the last file.• All picture files should be
highlighted• Click “Insert” then click “Create”
and the pictures will automatically move into the presentation.
Now for the fun…
• Work the project like any other PowerPoint.
• If pictures don’t cover the page, add a background.
• Crop or edit pictures on the slide.
• Add slide transition
• Animation• Organize slides
in the Slide Sorter View
So you want to share..
• Email presentation (large file size = long upload time
– Some Internet providers frown on large file emails
• Pack and Go (2000)
– Package for CD (XP & 2003)
• Post on a webpage (for personal use only)
Sounds…• Choose from
Microsoft’s collection or create your own.
• Only WAV formats are accepted by PowerPoint if you choose your own background music.
To Add a Sound
• Set the Slide Transition and timing
• On Slide One under Slide Transition choose your sound under Modify
• Match your transitions with sound for clear ending
How about a CD?
• Nice memory sharing.• What a great way to say
thanks for a great year!• “Burn” as many CD’s as you
want– Create a label for that personal
touch
CD Checklist
• PowerPoint file• Any WAV files included in your
project• PowerPoint viewer, free from
Microsoft (for those that don’t have PowerPoint on their computer)

• Pictures and music, the choice is yours
• Version 6.0 allows for DVD playback on newer DVD players
•Watch your show on your television
