Communion to the Sick: If you or a loved one are in Kingwood Hospital or are homebound and would like a Communion Minister to visit, call the church office at 281-358-6637 to let us know.

Message from the Pastor Dear Parish Family, This week we have our financial statement of the parish. In the bulletin this week, you will see how the parish spends the money that the parish generously gives. We are very blessed as a parish to have so many generous people give so much time, talent and treasure. One of the reasons that St. Martha’s is a great par-ish is because of the generosity of the people who attend and support this parish. I want to express my gratitude to all the parishioners who help support the great work of our parish and to give thanks for the hard work of our parish staff who does so much to make St. Martha’s the parish it is! To follow up from last week’s bulletin, we are resuming the Woodland Hills Chapel as a place of prayer. Starting after the school Mass on September 26th, the Blessed Sacrament will be reserved in the tabernacle. The Chapel will be opened every day from 8 am to 8 pm for you to spend time with the Blessed Sacrament. We are still utilizing the Chapel behind the Church as the normal Adoration Chap-el and it will be the only chapel that is available for night time adoration. We have no plans for resuming perpetual exposition: that is Jesus in the monstrance all the time. I would like to be faithful to the liturgical documents. I would ask you to be mindful that the Woodland Hills Chapel is intended to be a place of quiet on the Faith Formation Campus but there will be groups occasionally signing up to use the Chapel for group prayer. Please pay attention to the schedule on the wall in the Chapel to find out when the Chapel is being occupied for prayer groups. I appreci-ate all your support and prayers and it is my hope that both chapels: the Woodlands Hills Chapel and the one attached to the Church will be filled throughout the day with people spending time with the Lord. We need his presence and we need our people praying with the Lord. Thank you all for the ministry of prayer! Fr. T.J. Dolce

BLESSING OF PETS: There will be a blessing of pets on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 9:30 AM (Church Plaza in front of the Church) in honor of the FEAST DAY OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI which falls on Thursday, Oct. 4.

ST. JOHN OF THE CROSS FOOD DRIVE: This weekend, Sept. 29 & 30, we will be collecting donations of non-perishable food and personal care items. Dona-tions will benefit St. John of the Cross Food Pantry in New Caney. Thank you for your continued generosity by contributing non-perishable grocery items to help those in need.

Will you not watch one hour with me? Matthew 26:40 Each day in the United States, 4,000 children are aborted. During 40

Days for Life, from Sept. 26th – Nov. 4th, you have an opportunity to pray and fast with other Christians around the world for an end to abor-tion.

When you stand and peacefully pray at an abortion site, you remind those entering the facility that God is present, and you are a sign of hope and help to them. Through the grace of God, hearts are changed and lives are saved.

Churches in Houston will take a day to pray outside Planned Parenthood of the Gulf Coast, which is the largest abortion facility in the western hemisphere. St Martha’s day is Friday, Oct. 19, 6:30 AM—6:30 PM (Sign up for one or more

If you missed Robert Barron’s video series on The Mass, here is another opportunity! “See how the Mass brings us out of the fallen world and into the heavenly realm, how it resonates with a call from God and a response from his people, the Church, and, most importantly, how we are intimately joined with the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus through the Holy Eucharist”. For more infor-mation, contact Carla Lewton at [email protected] or 281-713-8968.

St. Martha’s 2nd Family Ministry consists of a group of volunteers who provide personal presence and as-

[email protected]. This ministry is also looking for additional volunteers.

We are excited to announce that we will now be including the Communion Antiphon in our weekend Sunday Masses. The Choir at 11AM has already been singing these, but a simpler and shorter version will be used now in our other weekend/Feastday Masses. The cantor will first sing it once, then bring-ing in the people to sing it. Then the cantor will sing the doxol-ogy (Glory be) and all will sing the antiphon once more. (Notation/words will be on Powerpoint). The communion antiphon is the first option that the Church asks us to use for our Communion Chant (as explained in the General Instruction of the Roman Missal) because it helps to unite us joyfully with the universal Church throughout the world, to whom God continues to speak. The Communion Antiphon will be replacing the song “Sanctuary” in our Masses that have been using it, after which we will move on to the communion hymns to follow.

A STEWARDSHIP PRAYER FOR OCTOBER: Heavenly Father, as we observe Respect Life Month, we are espe-cially mindful of the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ, whose life, ministry, death and resurrection serve to witness Your immeasurable love for us all. May Christ lead us to be good stewards of our brothers and sisters, and to realize that all lives we bring to Him are sacred and deserve to be looked upon in Your image and likeness. Strengthen those who devote their lives to nurturing the most vulnerable, including the sick, the aged, children and those yet to be born. Let their witness give us the courage and resolve to proclaim the Gospel of Life to all whom we encounter. And send your Holy Spirit upon us to give us the wisdom and resolve to be servants of humankind, living icons of Christ, the servant of us all. We ask all this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
