ENGLISH LANGUAGE
• Students to learn to use English Language accurately & effectively in reading & writing, listening & viewing
• Important for students to read extensively & to read regularly. [It takes time to build up good language skills.]

skills can be acquired.

assignments with good effort.

LOWER SECONDARY SCIENCE • This subject covers three fields of science – Physics,
Chemistry and Biology;
• In Semester One, the Applied Learning Programme (ALP), has been incorporated into the Science Programme to expose pupils to the concepts of Aviation.
• A few topics from Secondary 1 will be tested in Sec 2 exams to reinforce basic foundations in science. [Pupils will be informed in advance of the topics]
• Students need to understand scientific concepts and principles, memorise facts, explain concepts, solve mathematical problems, and apply scientific principles
in daily life.
HUMANITIES SUBJECTS: (Geography, History, Literature]
• Students must be consistent in reading (textbook, articles, notes) and assignments.
• Read newspapers more avidly, in particular local news and opinion pages.
• Encourage your child to form opinions and share them during class discussions.
• Construct mind maps/ graphic organizers in their own time to help establish links between factors, and to remember factual details.
• Clarify doubts with teachers.

SCIENCE: PURE SCIENCES
• Greater emphasis on the Application (Handling of Information) of scientific concepts and principles – takes up 55% of theory paper
• Less emphasis on factual materials/knowledge
• Practical Examination at end of Secondary 4E for GCE O-Level
SCIENCE: COMBINED SCIENCES
• Two components in one subject with each component covering approx. 4/5 of the pure science syllabus. There is slightly less depth in content.
• Equal emphasis on knowledge with understanding, and application (handling information) type of questions
• Practical Examination at end of Secondary 4E/5N for GCE O-Level
• No Practical Examination for GCE N-Level

SCIENCE (Normal Technical)
• The syllabus is presented as three Core Modules: Gadgets Work Wonders, Food Matters, and Wonders of My Body – 3 textbooks & 3 Activity books
• More emphasis on knowledge with understanding type of questions – takes up 60% of paper
• No Practical Paper for GCE NT Examination

ELEMENTS OF BUSINESS SKILLS (EBS)
• Syllabus will be completed in Sec 3 as N level coursework begins in Feb 2017.
• Important for students to attend lessons and do self-study. Many concepts and terms to familiarise with.
• Students need to be able to understand and apply knowledge learnt.
COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (CPA)
• We aim to teach your child the following:
• Basic Computer literacy
• Skills in using functional application softwares; MS WORD, MS EXCEL
• Critical and logic thinking through Games Design
