• Parents and teachers will check planners daily•We will use the planner and the green daily folder as a communication tool between home and school.• Parents will sign or initial each day stating that their child has read 20 minutes and completed his/her homework for the day.
Volunteers• Volunteers are ALWAYS welcome at
Thompson Elementary and in our classroom.
• You may volunteer services, time or supplies.
• Please contact your child’s teacher or PTA directly in order to get this started.
• You may volunteer here at school or in the comfort of your own home.
• Watch D.O.G.S.-Dads, Uncles, Grandpas • Background check is available online at
www.nisdtx.org
HomeworkHomework• Will be assigned each Friday. We will send this home in the
green daily folder on Friday in a page protector. It will be due the following Friday, so that students can do their homework around their weekly schedule.
• Homework should take no more than 30 minutes.
• Read at least 20 minutes each night.
• Math-Practice and repetition of what has been taught here at school.

Tuesday News Day Tuesday News Day FoldersFolders
• Each Tuesday the students will bring home their Tuesday News Day Folders. These folders will contain important flyers from the PTA, and notes from school/teacher. We ask that you check these each Tuesday, sign the inside, and return them with your child on Wednesday .

• If you would like to help your child celebrate their birthday at school you may bring cupcakes to the front office which must be store bought to be enjoyed at the end of the day.

• All field trips are related directly to the curriculum and student learning.
• Parent supervision is imperative for instruction, supervision and safety of all students. However, some field trips may not accommodate other guests.
AttendanceAttendance• Excellent attendance is strongly
encouraged and recognized each six weeks. Whenever your child must be absent, we ask that you call the school office to report the absence at (817)698-3800.
• If you would like to pick up your child’s missed work, please call the school office prior to 9:00 am.
