Welcome to Reinventing Space 2016
Held annually, Reinventing Space (RISpace) is a conference and exhibitiondedicated to one of the fastest growing sectors: low cost access to, andutilisation of, space.
The global economic climate is creating demand to reduce expenditure, leading to new challenges and opportunities in world space. The need tocreate dramatically reduced-cost, more responsive systems and launcherscapable of delivering to space quickly, cheaply and reliably has never beenmore vital.
RISpace brings together industry, agency, government, financiers, academia and end users for a second-to-none networking opportunity inthe low cost access arena.
The 14th Reinventing Space conference and exhibition takes placeat the Royal Society in London between Monday 24 and Thursday27 October 2016.
An extra day on Friday 28 October will include site visits.
The host country for this year's conference, the United Kingdom, has astrategy to grow its share to over 10% of the world space market by 2030– a market forecast to be worth at least £400 bn by that year.
Attending RISpace is the premier worldwide opportunity to meet theinnovators vital for the future direction of space.
The primary purpose of revenue from the Reinventing Spaceconference and exhibition is to raise funds for the mission of theBritish Interplanetary Society – initiating, promoting anddisseminating new concepts and technical information about spaceflight and astronautics. The BIS is the world’s oldest spaceadvocacy organisation.
If you are interested in sponsorship or exhibiting, the Reinventing Spaceconference and exhibition is an exceptional opportunity to increaseawareness for your business across the sector.

RISpace – the mission
The annual RISpace conference began in 2003, in the wake of the 9/11 attacks and looked at'responsive space'. This discipline originally focused on US military needs - adapting spacecapabilities to changing national security requirements.
As the conference has developed it has refocused on all aspects of low cost access to space –from launchers to cubesats; from improved optics for Earth observation to ion drives forlong-distance propulsion. Technological advances drive the international space effort - civil, military and commercial space. RISpace sessions and panels look at finding ways to worktogether, making things happen.
Attendees, authors and keynotes come from many different spheres:
Decision-makers from space agencies and national space programmes Space innovators and visionaries CEOs and leading executives Government, law and regulatory representatives Students and young professionals Engineers and scientists from cutting-edge companies Academics from all space disciplines Space financiers, entrepreneurs, seed funders and crowdfunders Satellite owners and satellite operators Commercial and New Space industry Leaders from military and civilian space Members of the general public with an interest in the future direction of space
RISpace 2016 returns to the Royal Society
The Royal Society in London has been the home ofBritish science since the 1600s. RISpace 2014 was heldhere as was maybe the only conference that year where98% of attendees found the venue exceeded theirexpectations!
The Royal Society is a Fellowship of the world’s mosteminent scientists and is the oldest scientific academy incontinuous existence. Founded in the 1660s, it is thenational academy of science in the United Kingdom. TheFellowship is drawn from all areas of science, engineering and medicine. Isaac Newton and CharlesDarwin have been past Fellows; Stephen Hawking is acurrent Fellow.
What I liked about RISpace:
“The venue was terrific. The presentations nearly all interesting, with a nice break-up of exciting announcements. The exhibition areas were full of interesting information. The reception was brilliant, including drinks on the Wednesday. ”More testimonials at www. ris pace.org/?page_id=138
An engineering model of Ariel 1 hangs in the atrium of the Royal Society. This was the first satellite launched as the result of international collaboration.
The Society’s fundamental purpose, reflected in itsfounding Charters of the 1660s, is to recognise, promote, and support excellence in science and to encourage thedevelopment and use of science for the benefit ofhumanity. The Society has played a part in some of themost fundamental, significant, and life-changingdiscoveries in scientific history.
A major activity of the Society is identifying andsupporting the work of outstanding scientists. It supportsresearchers through its early and senior career schemes, innovation and industry schemes. The Society’s share ofthe income from Reinventing Space 2016 goes towardsthis support.
