All About Miss Tucker

• I am 34.

• I was born in Mobile, attended ER Dickson and O’Rourke Elementary schools.

• I was raised in Mobile and Baldwin Counties.

• Graduate of Foley High School, Class of 1999

• Graduated from Spring Hill College in 2005 with BS in Early Childhood Education, and in 2011 with a Master’s in Early Childhood Education.

• This is my 2nd year at Just 4 as a Pre-K Teacher!

• Teaching for 10 years in various positions

• Substitute, instructional aide, general education classroom teacher

• I have taught pre-k, first and third, and worked with kindergarten and first grade students doing reading/math intervention for four years before coming to Just 4.

MORE ABOUT MISS TUCKER…. My favorite food is pizza, my favorite drink is COKE. My favorite color

is purple, and I love anything with anchors on them.

I am a member of the Junior League of Mobile, and I enjoy volunteering in the community!

I love music and singing!

I am not married, but have a wonderful boyfriend, known to my students as “Mr. Bryan”.

I have always wanted to be a teacher. I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was 4 years old, and I never looked back!

Traffic Procedures-Morning Cars will enter off of St.

Stephens Road, and exit at the traffic light off of Allison Street (road next to police precinct.

Our campus is a NO CELL PHONE ZONE! Please end all calls before driving in.

The side entrances of the building are prohibited to parents. Parents will stay in cars at all time, unless arriving after the tardy bell.

Stay in the right hand lane (outside lane). Left lane is a drive through lane only.

Make sure your child is ready to get out of the car and has all their belongings when you pull up.

Pull forward and your child will exit on the right hand side of the car.

Stay in the right hand lane and follow directions from school staff to exit campus.

Traffic Procedures-Afternoon If you don’t have a number, you

will park in the side parking lot, come in the office, and with a PHOTO ID, sign your child out. NO EXCEPTIONS

Students will be called to the front and escorted to your car by school staff.

Once all cars in both lanes are loaded within those numbers called, staff will direct you to pull up and exit campus.

Exit via Allison Street only.

Outside lane (right) will then be filled.

Staff will be on duty beginning at 2:00 to assist with traffic.

Afternoon Dismissal Times Early dismissals (check outs) allowed until 2:00. No early dismissals

after 2:00.

Day Care Riders will begin dismissing at 2:10.

Car Riders will begin dismissing at 2:20.

Rainbow After School Care students will be taken to ASC at 2:50

ANY CHILD NOT PICKED UP BY 2:50 WILL BE SENT TO RAINBOW AND A $15.00 DROP IN CHARGE WILL BE BILLED TO YOU.

Attendance MCPSS Attendance Policy

Students should be in school every day. Must have a parent note (no more than 8 per year allowed) or doctor’s

excuse. Excuses must be turned in within three days of the student’s return to

school. If you do not send an excuse, it will be marked as unexcused.

Students who have five or more unexcused absences will be sent to Early Warning Truancy Court.

Acceptable excuses: illness, death of immediate family member Unacceptable excuses: car trouble, oversleeping, traffic

NAMETAGS AND CAR RIDER NUMBERS Name tags will be worn every day for the first few weeks of school.

Please keep it in a safe place each night so it is ready to wear the next day!

Car rider numbers should be placed on backpacks so we can quickly dismiss your child when their number is called. Make sure your number is visible on the passenger side of the car in the afternoon.

If someone different is picking your child up, make sure they have your car rider number placard to place in their vehicle. Otherwise they will have to come in, show ID and sign your child out.

Classroom Snack Procedures Snack schedule will be sent home at the end of the month for the

following month (example: Snack schedule for September will go home at the end of August

Everyone has a designated day. Please provide snacks and juice for the entire class (20 students).

If you cannot bring snack on your assigned day, please let us know in advance.

Snacks should be healthy in nature: no candy, gum, soft drinks, etc.

Birthday Snacks If you would like to bring in a birthday snack for your child’s birthday, you may do so. Cupcakes and juice are great.

We put on the snack schedule who has a birthday snack coming up.

Before and After School CareBefore and after school care is provided through RAINBOW for all students who wish to use the service.

Payment is required to use the program.

Behavior Expectations A weekly behavior sheet will be sent home for each student in their

daily take-home folder.

Please look over the sheet with your child and sign it. Talk with your child about their behavior and if needed, what they can do to correct the behavior.

Students are taught to manage their own behaviors. They are only responsible for themselves, no one else.

In our classroom, we use the following system: We ask the child to correct his or her behavior We tell the child to correct his or her behavior We make the child correct his or her behavior by withdrawing

privileges (time out)

We are All Leaders! All students will have a daily job to help our

classroom run more efficiently. Jobs include materials manager, lunch helper,

botanist, line leader, caboose, sweeper, librarian, messenger, recycler, computer technician, snack helper, mess monitor, recess helper, pet caretaker, calendar, meteorologist, electrician, table wiper, door holder, chair stacker/table inspector

Everyone will get a chance to do all of these jobs!

We are All Leaders! This year we will be learning about the 7 Habits of Highly Effective

Daily Folders Please check your child’s folder each day, sign it and return it to school the following day!

Clean out all papers on the “Home” side each night.

Leave the weekly behavior sheet in your child’s folder on the “School” side of the folder. This is how we communicate with you!

MONEY SENT TO SCHOOLAll money needs to be in a sealed envelope with your child’s name, his/her teacher’s names, the dollar amount, and what the money is for.

This helps to alleviate missing money and permission slips for field trips or other things happening around school that require a fee.

HOLIDAY CELEBRATIONS and PROGRAMS If your child is not able to

participate in holiday celebrations, please let us know so we can make arrangements for them!

Special snack on Halloween, Valentine’s Day, and St. Patrick’s Day

2 parties during the year Christmas and End of Year

Volunteers needed for both!

More information about holiday and end of the year programs will go home as they occur.

FIELD TRIPS!!!! We hope to go on a few field trips this year.

All trips are educational, and tie in to what we are studying!

You will be told in advance of any money being due.

Students must have a permission slip on file with me in order to go on the bus.

Parents will be notified if chaperones are needed.
