Our Lady of Lourdes Parish is seeking donors to refurbish our flagpole. The flagpole is located southwest of our church and just a bit southeast of the Shrine. If you have not noticed it, feel free to take a gander. Our goal is to clean, paint and replace the rope and pulley system. If you are interested in making a donation to cover any or all of the cost of renovation, please contact Dave Lang in the Parish Office.

The Parish Office will be closed Monday, October 8th for Columbus Day.

Please join us for our next Bible Study session featuring video presen-tations by Jeff Cavins on St. Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians. This let-ter reveals many remarkable gifts that we as Christians are given in the Church. Ephesians also tells us about the nature of the Church – as a body, as a family, as a mystery, as a communion, and as the bride of Christ. Ephesians will help us to discover our inheritance as it reveals how God’s great love for us can transform our dai-ly lives – if we allow it. Ephesians will enrich our faith and… help show us how to live it out. Where: The Lourdes Room When: Tuesday evenings 6:30 – 8:15 pm

From Fr. Dave Bruning …. This weekend we begin the annual Perpetuate the Gift Campaign to sup-port the Priests’ Retirement Fund of the Diocese of Toledo. It means a great deal to me now, because I can be your pastor, holding a half-time position, because of the retirement fund. Now that I’m or-dained over 40 years, I draw a monthly pension (not including the room and board portion, since the parish pays Little Flower for that), and I can afford to take a half-time salary. While each parish is as-sessed for the fund, all contributions received by December 31 reduce our subsidy for this purpose. So I would ask you to be generous in your contributions. The Conference of Catholic Bishops is taking steps within their authority to address the question of how to respond to complaints against bishops regarding sexual abuse or the cover up of abuse. They are proposing a third party reporting system to take complaints against bishops. They are also in the process of proposing a code of conduct for bishops, not only for sexual abuse of minors but of seminarians and other adults. They are calling for a full investigation of the situation regarding Cardinal McCarrick. These are first steps, and they anticipate more will be taken in the future.
