Jubilee Year of MercyNovember 13, 2016Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time
As this Jubilee Year of Mercy comes to an end, Jesus’ first dis-ciples ask what every age seems to wonder about the end of the
world: “Teacher, when will this happen? What sign will there be?” (Luke 21:7). But instead of what we’d like to know, Jesus tells us what we need to know. Don’t be terrified by natural disasters, human violence, personal sufferings. Because God’s mercy abounds, all is grace. “It will lead to your giving testimony” (21:13). So Malachi promises “the sun of justice with its healing rays” (Malachi 3:20a); and Jesus describes how we should welcome the end: “Stand erect and raise your heads, because your
redemption is at hand” (Gospel Acclamation, Luke 21:28). Rather than worrying about ourselves and the future’s perils, both Jesus’ gospel and Pope Francis’ Jubilee Year of Mercy bid us go forth to spend our lives proclaiming God’s promise of boundless mercy, but also translating God’s mercy into living deeds of unfailing compassion and enduring comfort.

CHURCH ORGANIZATIONS / ORGANIZACIONES PARROQUIALES
Safety and Security Ministry
The Safety and Security Ministry meets regularly with our pastor, Father David to help provide a safe environment for everyone who comes on the grounds for prayer, learning and service. The members are parishioners with a background in law enforcement, fire fighting, safety, security, and risk management. At a recent meeting, the members proposed parking lot safety guidelines, which will help to promote safety on the premises.
• Do not leave car phones, handbags or any valuable item where they can be seen in your vehicle. Always store these items away from sight.
• Do not leave purchased merchandise in your vehicle where it can be seen.
• Before sunrise and sunset, park and walk in well lighted areas. Please consider that for the evening Mass on Saturday and Sunday, you will exit the church when it is dark outside.
• Stay alert to your surroundings, including people who are walk-ing to their vehicles and to the movement of traffic.
• Before getting into your vehicle look inside and around.
• Remember to pray before you begin a journey.
My holy guardian angel, ask the Lord to bless the journey which I undertake, that it may profit the health of my soul and body; that I may reach its end; and that, returning safe and sound, I may find all at home in good health. Guard, guide and preserve us. Amen.

Dear parishioners,Improvements are being made on our church grounds. Over
the past several weeks, branches have been pruned from the trees and shrubs. The flowerbeds have been cultivated to promote a healthy environment for all the plants. Additionally, the drainage areas in the back of the church property, behind the Chapel, have been cleared so that the rainwater can flow out of the parking area.
The church sign is restored. The interior was cleaned, including the white panels and letters. New lights bulbs were installed. And, the exterior Plexiglas panels, which had become clouded because of sunlight exposure were replaced.
These improvements help to promote the health and vitality of our parish community. For whenever we come to Mass and to participate in various activities and when people drive by on Main Street and see the church, we become aware that we are tending to our responsibility to take good care of what has been handed on to us for the glory of God.
The project to correct the flow of rainwater and drainage around the church, both from the roof in relation to additional gutters and downspouts and the slope of the ground around the perimeter of the church is going well. It is a long process, which requires the coordination of different components, which will lead, in time to the replacement of the carpet in the church.
I am asking for you to volunteer your time and energy to help manually dig around the church to clear the area for better drainage. This is an important need and if we can count on the volunteer work of our parishioners, then we will not be required to pay a company to do this work. Please prayerfully consider helping. The contact persons are James Quezada 512-845-3782, Lee Verver 512-659-9466, Art Estrada 512-909-0358 and Pedro Balderas 512-529-7931.
In May of this year, a special program was begun in our parish: Formed.org. This is a website which contains an amazing number of media to help persons and groups to grow in our Catholic Faith.
During the Mass today, special information and directions will be given to enable all of our parishioners to participate by accessing this website. Please consider registering and getting involved in the various programs of prayer, study and discipleship. I believe you will be impressed with the quality and practicality of Formed.org.
Father David.
Padre David.
