Welcome to our Amazing Parish! We are an amazing parish because we create and nurture joyful disciples of Christ. A Catholic becomes an Intentional Disciple after recognizing they have been personally chosen by the Lord to enter an intimate relationship with Him. This relationship relies on the Holy Spirit and embraces a lifelong sacramental journey of prayer, service, evangelization and communally receiving Jesus Christ through Scripture and Eucharist. Thus, Intentional Disciples imitate Christ in everything they do on a daily basis. 1708 Horseshoe Drive • Pueblo, Colorado • (719) 542-9248 http://www.ctkpueblo.org • facebook.com/christthekingcatholicparish

FROM THE PASTOR

Well if anything is clear, it’s how much we are going to enjoy each other’s company whenever we can assemble together and be family again. All of us on staff are people-persons; that’s what ministry is about. And we’re getting cabin fever (maybe you are, too) with our inability to see people face-to-face. I appreci-ate that technology gave us the Zoom App so we can video-conference, but it never will replace live pres-ence. We’ll continue to evangelize you in the means available to us.

Our staff is praying for you every Monday thru Thurs-day at noon on Zoom. In addition, the volunteers on our Prayer Line pray for specific intentions that are brought to our attention. If any cross has arrived at your door, let us know of your struggle and we will invoke the power of our prayer for you.

The Amazing Parish Team is videoconferencing weekly. Under present circumstances, it’s probably ideal that we’re looking at our parish’s overall prima-ry communications – website, Bulletin, and Facebook page – to assess where we can make improvements.

The Diocese of Pueblo received its PPP award (the federal Payroll Protection Plan). I expect to receive a check this week that will help us keep regular employ-ment available to our staff for 8 weeks. We are deal-ing with decreased contributions – understandable be-cause so many people are out of work. Many thanks to our “seniors” who keep providing. All of us here ap-preciate whatever sacrifices you make on our behalf so we can keep the parish going. And we pray that our parishioners enjoy the security of work and successful businesses.

Latest news I have on the chiller for the hall is that it is complete and the installer is making arrangements to rent a crane for installation.

Isn’t it difficult dealing with the uncertainty this coro-navirus has brought us? It is certainly humbling. Eve-ry day brings more information. We are definitely not in control of this one. We all pray for a vaccine so this will come largely to an end.

I encourage all of you to watch some of the nature programming (not the other stuff) on the National Ge-ographic and BBC channels. It lifts my spirits to see the spectacular beauty of God’s Creation. It reaffirms my faith in a loving and generous God.

Calling all Seniors! Graduation from high school or college is such an im-portant milestone in the life of our young people, and we would like to honor them and pray for them personal-ly. We are asking for the

names of the graduating high school and college sen-iors who are members of Christ the King and the school they are graduating from. Please send an email to Mary at mmeissner@ctkpueblo or Sarah at [email protected]. Please include:

· Graduating senior’s name · Graduating senior’s high school or college

The Bishop has also requested this information so that he can pray for each one of them. If you know of a senior whose parents may not see this post, please send us his or her name - we don’t want to miss anyone! Please respond by Wednesday, May 13. God’s blessings on all the seniors out there!

Our First Reading this Sunday reminds us of the creation of the Diaconate in the early Church. God bless the Deacons past and present of our parish: Michael LaConte, Steve Escalera and Corey Comp-ton. They have made a difference in so many lives here!

Minister to each other in your safe circle of people. Be Christ for each other! St. Paul reminds us in this Sunday’s reading about how every Christian has a priestly role to play—ordained or not! Con amore! – Fr. John O.

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Being Catholic But Were Afraid to Ask:

Fr. John wants to answer your ques-tions! Submit your questions via

email to Fr. John at [email protected] He will then answer the questions on YouTube in a series of presentations that will be announced on our online Sunday Mass. Watch for the link on Facebook and our website. We thought this would be a fun way to stay connected while we are apart.
