Welcome to Orange County Children’s eatre’s summer production of Beauty & e Beast Jr. We are pleased to be celebrating over 40 years of theater here at OCCT - A theater that supports children and families and a love of the arts. We began in 1969 as Fountain Valley Community eater, then evolved in 1976 into a children’s theater, and nally became Orange County Children’s eatre in 1986. I am both fortunate and proud to hold the position of President in an organization that prides itself on instilling a love of theater in every cast member while helping them reach new levels of talent within themselves. As you enjoy our show, (and I know you will) please know that it is the long history of volunteerism that gives life to what we do at OCCT and which sustains this special organization. Parents, siblings, grandparents, and friends have all given of their time and support behind-the-scenes eorts to make sure our lights go up and our cast shines. Let the theatre, the music and the enthusiasm of the kids ll you with the magic that is musical theater.

Special thanks to our directors, Kathy Busby, Robyn Manion and Amanda Murphy. We are thrilled to have your knowledge, expertise and creative energies in this production! In just 6 short weeks you have found the best in our kids and taught them to bring beauty and magic to a “tale as old as time.” I have seen first-hand the level of determination and learning that has taken place and I know this cast is excited and proud to show you “what they did on their summer vacation!” Thank you to the producer, our Executive Board and the Com-mittee Leads who have given their time to make this the best show yet! Parents, as always, we could not put our show together without you and we are grateful. As leader of this organization, I am proud of the kids for their hard work and indebted to the parents and directors who have given their all to bring our production to life. To the cast, you did what you wanted to do this summer - sing and dance to the roar of the crowd - so, take the stage now and HAVE FUN!

I would personally like to invite you, our audience and friends, to get involved and help preserve the rare and special gift that is OCCT. Our family is anxious to meet yours; come audition and see what we’re all about - good people, talented kids and the best that Broadway has to offer!

Vive le Theatre!

Kathy BusbyDirectorKathy has worn a number of hats in theater. Besides directing she has done everything from producing, writing, set design, make-up, costumes and she has just successfully completed her rst summer theater camp for kids. She loves directing, especially for youth shows. Kathy has directed shows in Orange County since 1988 with casts from two people all the way up to 380 people of all ages. She has been seen directing at La Habra Depot eater, e Atlanta Street eater, Marina High School, Sowers Middle School and Broadway on Tour to name a few. Some of Kathy’s favorite shows include “Seussical the Musical”, “e Wizard of Oz” and Disney’s “Alad-din”. Kathy has directed many shows for OCCT and is delighted to be invited to direct “Beauty and the Beast, Jr.” this summer. Each performer has given his/her all to present their best to the audience. It has been a joy to work with everyone involved. Kathy sends out a big thank you to the board members of OCCT who have welcomed her to this production. It has been great to work with Producer Dan Lent, choreographer, Amanda Murphy and vocal director Robyn Manion. She sends a thank you to Taylor Windle who volunteered to be her assistant throughout the production. Her help was valuable and Kathy is grateful for her dependability. And of course Kathy sends a heartfelt thanks to the stage and production crew, the patient parents who volunteered to “make it happen”, and to the amazingly talented cast. Kathy will always treasure the memories of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Jr.”

Amanda MurphyChoreographerAmanda got her “big break” in children’s theater back in 1997 when she was asked to choreograph OCCT’s production of Peter Pan, and 14 years later Amanda is still choreographing and still loving it! With over 100 musicals under her belt, she has had the pleasure of choreographing for e La Habra Depot eater, e Maverick eater, e Huntington Beach Playhouse, e Attic eater, Marina High School and Cypress High School to name a few; but she is most proud of her work at Broadway On Tour youth theater where she has served as the Resident Choreographer since 1998. Some of Amanda’s favorite credits include: Annie, High School Musical, Joseph…Dreamcoat!, Seussical the Musical, and Princesses. Aside from choreography, Amanda loves to travel and she is a 12-year volunteer for Re-Creation Summer Camp-a residential camp for adults with disabilities. Amanda would like to send a big “ank you” to Kathy and Robyn for being such an amazing team to work with, the cast and crew for all of their hard work and dedication, and her mom for all of the dance classes!
