Classroom Positive Discipline
We want our children to have both a mutual respect as well as a mutual responsibility for themselves and others. As their teacher, I will create a climate for mutual respect by modeling how to listen to one another, take each other seriously, and problem solve together. We will focus on nonpunitive solutions that are related, respectful, reasonable, and understood by the student.
Discipline--Consequences
1. Verbal warning2. Second verbal warning3. Telephone call to parents from
Mrs. Burger.4. In-Person conference with
student, guardian, and teacher.
Absence Policy Call the school office by 9:00 a.m. and
request your child’s work . At this time, tell the office personnel if you wish to pick up the work yourself or have it sent with another student. I will gather your child’s work during my planning period. If you are going to pick up your child’s work, you may do so in the office after 2:30 p.m. This will provide adequate time to insure that s/he is receiving all the necessary work.
Classroom VolunteersThank you to those of you have
offered to volunteer your time to help us! I understand it is not possible for everyone due to work schedules.
I will contact those parents who have offered to help with reading groups this coming week!
Pencils will start coming home this Friday to be sharpened with those who offered to help.
CONFIDENTIALITYWe want to make you
aware of our school policy on confidentiality. Staff and volunteers are not allowed to discuss any student in a public location. If you need to discuss information about your child, please set up a conference with me.
Any volunteer who is in a position to see information about other students should not discuss this information with anyone other than the teacher in privacy.
