We will be armed with leaf rakes (you are encouraged to bring one from home, if possible). We will split up in groups of 10-12 people and then we’ll work our way through neighborhoods in the city of Groveport. We will be raking the leaves to the curb for the City of Groveport employees to collect during their normal leaf collection. We plan to finish our raking around noon. Last year’s event had close to 30 volunteers and we were able to be the hands and feet of Jesus to over 50 homes within Groveport. This is an outstanding opportunity to serve those around us. It is a fun event for people of all ages to work together on a great project. Much like our Help Build Hope event, this can be a full family serving affair. This is also an opportunity to meet others from the congregation and to build godly relationships. If you are interested, please sign up in the lobby.

“He Is a Willing Healer”

“He Is a Willing Healer”

Francis Chan: “He cannot be contained in the world, explained by our vocabulary, or grasped by our understanding.”

Matthew 8:1-4 When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

To really appreciate the willingness of Jesus, you have to understand the plight of the leper.

Leviticus 13:45-46 (NLT) Those who suffer from leprosy must tear their clothing and leave their hair uncombed. They must cover their mouth and call out, ‘Unclean, unclean!’ As long as the leprosy lasts, they will remain ceremonially unclean. They must live in isolation in their place outside the camp.

Jesus responded with his trademark compassion.

Jesus says to us, “I am willing.”
