Welcome to Little People Day Nurseries!Thank you for your enquiry regarding child care at Little People Day Nursery, we recognise that choosing the right nursery for you and your child is an important step.

Little People Day Nurseries was formed in 1978 and has over 30 years of experience in providing high quality care and education for children to flourish. Our latest Ofsted inspection report rated the provision as “Outstanding” in March 2009; this is achieved by only 3% of nurseries in the country.

Children learn and have fun in a safe and stimulating environment where they play with new friends, learn social skills, develop structure to their day and become independent and confident in a safe, happy and loving environment.

We have dedicated, highly qualified and experienced staff

including Montessori teachers, NVQ level 2/3/4 nursery nurses up to degree level. Our passion is to provide both fun and education where children develop as individuals and are helped to learn and discover.

These are just some of the reasons why we have established an enviable reputation for providing first class childcare in West London.

...but the best way to find out is to call us now and see for yourself.

Jane GleasureManaging Director

Key benefits of our baby care:• High staff to child ratios• Special dietary requirements and weaning advice• Individual sleep times during the day• Variety of stimulating activities throughout the day including music, sensory, malleable and art and craft activities• Routines for your child’s day with informal daily feedback and formal parents evenings• Open door policy so you can always drop in and see your child

Within this safe and loving environment there are plenty of opportunities for your child to learn and develop through exploration with touch and feel activities, music, art and craft as well as the discovery of play with toys.

We employ dedicated, qualified staff who are trained to follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Programmes and are skilled in providing a stimulating setting for babies to develop into toddlers.

I wish to express my gratitude to you and your staff on running a wonderful nursery and thank you for taking care of my babies so well

M Walker - June 2008

Looking after ToddlersAt around 18 months, children are gently introduced to the toddler room where they discover new challenges through physical play, structured activities, games, art and craft and imaginative play. Children are encouraged to learn to interact, share toys and play together through the guidance of our experienced Key Worker Nursery Nurses.

Toddlers are provided with a number of structured activities ranging from play with paint, water and sand to climbing equipment, ball pools, singing and dancing, stories, puzzles and building which help to develop your child’s confidence and personality.

Children at two years will progress to: counting, sorting, threading, puzzles and games, baking, play dough and clay, construction activities, sand and water, art and imaginative skills and role playing as well as making full use of our physical play equipment.

And of course this all includes lots of cuddles and plenty of fun……..

Thank you to your staff for all the wonderful care, attention and love you have shown our son over the last two and half years. He has loved being there and we have been extremely happy with the service you have provided

Montessori ClassesChildren’s natural thirst for knowledge is developed by

dedicated teaching staff using the excellent Montessori

Teaching Method, combining it with Early Learning goals

recommended by Ofsted to provide your child with the

best start in life

From the age of 21/2 Montessori Teachers will offer your

child practical life skills such as developing coordination,

concentration, independence, language and will enhance

social skills. Using the Montessori Teaching Method the

children also begin to recognise numbers, form letters and

words, shapes and colours and are encouraged to develop

and learn at their own pace.

During the formative years it is acknowledged that children

are particularly sensitive to certain stimuli. A Montessori

teacher recognise and takes advantage of these highly

perceptive stages through the introduction of materials

and activities which are specially designed to stimulate the

child’s intellect and enthusiasm for learning. This guidance

supports the child’s natural desire to teach themselves and

helps develop independence.

Thank you for all the love and guidance your staff have given to our daughter over the last three and half years. Little People has been fundamental to our daughter’s development into a bright, confident little girl my husband and I are so proud of

J Williams - June 2008

Early Learning GoalsEarly Learning goals are incorporated into our curriculum planning. Each teacher uses these goals to formulate structured plans to teach his/her class. The following areas are all included in weekly teaching plans and are available for parents to view in each room:

• Personal, Social and Emotional Development

• Communication, Language and Literacy

• Mathematical Development

• Knowledge and Understanding of the World

• Physical Development

• Creative Development

Children make choices and decisions in their play and they are enthusiastic learners

Ofsted - 06/11/08 Children make excellent progress in their learning. They are supported by staff members who have excellent knowledge and understanding of the early learning goals. This is because planning is understood by all members of staff as it is recorded in sufficient detail to ensure a consistent approach and develops each child’s uniqueness

All food is prepared every day in each nursery. Healthy eating is an important part of our philosophy. We employ dedicated cooks to prepare nutritious and balanced menus for all babies and children throughout the week. All meals are freshly prepared each day using a variety of fresh ingredients; fresh fruit and drinks are always available. Meal times are a social occasion where staff and children enjoy their breakfast, lunch and tea together in a relaxed environment. Older children are encouraged to develop good manners, serve themselves and pour their own drinks.

The cook prepares a good range of tasty, nourishing meals in a clean, orderly kitchen. The children eat their meals with obvious pleasure and some have second helpings before dessert. The cook carefully prepares meals for babies and for children with particular dietary needs. Discussions with staff about healthy eating and good hygiene support children’s understanding of keeping healthy Ofsted - March 2009

Children are making good progress within the Early Years Foundation Stage. They are supported by a team of well qualified staff, who have clear understanding of how children develop and learn. The learning environment is effective in ensuring that children and adults can move freely throughout. All equipment is age and developmentally appropriate so that all children can access challenges that help them to develop at their own pace. A positive display of children’s creative and educational work makes the environment child centred
