The International Middle Years Program
IB MYP - Distinguishing Characteristics
● Assessment
○ Students are assessed with IB MYP rubric(s) at least once per quarter
○ All subjects have different rubric criteria, all have four criteria (A,B,C, & D)
■ Example: A. Knowing and Understanding, B. Investigating, C.
Communicating, D. Thinking Critically
● School-wide lessons for Approaches to Learning Skills/The Learner Profile
○ Focus on literacy and international mindedness

Algebra 1 HN - Enrollment Requirements
● Advanced math curriculum during 6th grade● 91st percentile on Iowa math assessment● 500 or higher (pass advanced) on Math 7 SOL Letters about Algebra placement are sent in early summer. The class is a high school credit.
Upcoming● Hughes counselors will visit elementary schools in February for academic
advising and online course request selection - Parents, we recommend that you create a SIS ParentVUE account if you do not already have one!
● Students request courses through SIS StudentVUE and can make changes to course requests through March 1st - Parents can view course requests through SIS ParentVUE
● Late spring - Course Request Verification is mailed home. Changes may be made through Hughes counselors through the Course Change Request Form by June 5, 2020
● Panther Preview - Monday,August 10th and Tuesday, August 11th (8 am -12 pm)
