Currently we have 263 students approx. from KG to grade 6.
We have 3 Full Day Bilingual KG Programs with a teacher and 2 Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) per class. We have a very dedicated and caring staff.

Program Options
If your child will be 4 or 5 years old by December 31, 2018, they can start kindergarten in September 2018.Program choices in the OCDSB for elementary students include:
• 2 Year 50/50 Bilingual Kindergarten (Children can start in the first or second year of Kindergarten)
• English with Core French (Grade 1-6)-Centennial PS• Early French Immersion (Grade 1-6)-Elgin PS• Middle French Immersion (Grade 4-6)-Centennial PS• Alternative (Grade 1-6)-Lady Evelyn PS
The program selected is a parental decision.
English Program- Centennial PS
At the elementary level, the following subjects are taught:
• Language • Mathematics• Science and Technology • Social Studies (including Geography and History) • Health and Physical Education• The Arts • Core French (200 Minutes per week)
English instruction for all subjects other than French.
Early French Immersion Program
At the elementary level, the following subjects are taught:
• French Language• English Language-200 min/week starting in Gr. 2• Mathematics (English Instruction in Grade 1)-300
min/week• Science and Technology • Social Studies (including Geography and History) • Health and Physical Education• The Arts
Early French Immersion (EFI)
In the EFI program, students are currently provided with:
• Kindergarten – 50% French; 50% English• Grade 1 - 80% French; 20% English• Grades 2 to 6 - 60% French; 40% English• Grades 7 and 8 - 50% French; 50% English
Note: Mathematics instruction in English begins in Grade 1.English LA instruction begins in Grade 2
Middle French Immersion (MFI)Centennial PS
Beginning in Grade 4 through to Grade 8, the following subjects are taught:
• Language (English and French)• Mathematics (English Instruction)• Science and Technology (French)• Social Studies (including Geography and History in
Intermediate) (French) • Health and Physical Education (French)• The Arts (French)
MFI – How does it work?Students in the English Program from Grades 1-3 have a
foundation in French:
• Kindergarten -750 minutes per week of French • Grades 1 to 3 - 200 minutes per week of Core French (i.e., 40
min/day)
In Middle French Immersion, students build proficiency in French:
• Grades 4 to 6 - 66% French; 34% English• Grades 7 and 8 - 50% French; 50% English
Alternative Program-Lady Evelyn PS
English instruction for all subjects other than Core French.
While the following characteristics are found in many of the programs at the elementary level across the District, collectively they form the foundation of the alternative philosophy:

An optional Extended Day Program, which runs before
and after school is also available in all of our
schools!
The 50/50 Bilingual Kindergarten Program provides an opportunity for a seamless educational experience for our early learners. The program consists of a Core Day Program, which runs during regular school hours.
Extended Day Program• The OCDSB operates the Extended Day Program for ages 3
years 8 months to 12 years where there is sufficient interest within the school community.
• Extended Day Programs are run either by the OCDSB or by a third party provider, contracted with the OCDSB. Both programs are overseen by the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board.
Both programs, offer safe and caring before school and after school options
for your child.
Extended Day Program (OCDSB)
The Extended Day Program is:
– offered before and after the regular school day (core day)– delivered by teams of Registered Early Childhood Educators – led by 1 educator for 13 children of Kindergarten age, or 1 educator
for 15 children of Grade 1-6 age– operates on:
• PA Days, December Break, March Break and Summer Break Note: operation on these dates is dependent on demand

• Grade 1-6 students usually go to Jack Purcell or YMCA

Transportation School bus transportation is available for the Core Day program only, for all kindergarten students who live more
than 0.8 km from their school (1.6 Km or more for Grade 1-8)
Transportation is NOT provided to and from the Extended Day Program.
