Skipping Techniques

Hey kids! Because fit for Friday is here and you can do skipping, here are some skipping skills to get you

going! Skipping alone: just jumping normal-ly, running with the jump rope, when you jump, put one foot forward and touch your heel and then switch feet, or this is the tricky one! Swing the jump rope really fast and see how much swings you can get! (The trick is to swing really hard and do a big jump!) Jumping with a friend: two people hold the ends of the jump rope and count the persons jumps, the person jumping bounces a ball at the same time as they’re jumping, two people face each other and one person holds the jump rope and they try and to-gether, or you can do Double Dutch:

the two people holding the rope holds two ropes. The ropes are turned towards each other so when one is up, the other one is down. The jump-er needs to jump quickly, moves from one side to the other, or keeps on changing feet. Group jumping: two people hold one rope and other people line up. They can do a run in start; when the two people swinging the rope and they run in, (watch the rope when running in and here’s a challenge, try to run out of it!) or they can simply start with no run in and the two people tell you when to start jumping. So remember to meet Mrs.Macarthy on the Astroturf every Friday! Some of this information is from a book by Laura Dower written in my own words.

This term clubs have started. Everyone in the school is having so much fun!!! Some

people are out doing fitness, some are inside making board games. These are what the

Preps aren’t doing clubs this term due to the swimming timetable.

There’s a lot of clubs going on all around the school!!

When everybody gets into it... everyone will be able to
