• Fine Art, which enables you to explore a broad range of art experiences including: drawing, painting, photography, digital manipulation, film, collage, 3D, mixed media.

• Photography, which teaches you how to take good quality photographs and to how use photoshop to explore digital possibilities.

• An Art qualification, in addition to academic qualifications, is accepted at all* British Universities for a degree in Medicine and Law.

• *The only exception is Nottingham University.• ‘’Imagination is more important than

Nick Park – Animator (Wallace and Gromit)

• He studied Communication Arts at Sheffield Polytechnic (now Sheffield Hallam University) and then went to the National Film and Television School, where he started making the first Wallace and Gromit film, A Grand Day Out.

The Designers Republic• The Designers Republic (tDR for short) was a graphic design

studio, founded on 14 July 1986[citation needed] by Ian Anderson, and based in Sheffield, England. It was known for its anti-establishment aesthetics, while simultaneously embracing brash consumerism and the uniform style of corporate brands, such as Orange and Coca-Cola.

What do I need to do GCSE Art?

• It is recommended that you have reached KS3 levels 6,7,8. (you can do it with a 5 if you are motivated, discuss this with your teacher)

• An enthusiasm to explore your creativity

The Art syllabus

• The ‘Freechoice’ sketchbook will include:

This is great for art as it gives you more freedom to explore your creative potential with more time to review your progress.You will start the course with a sketchbook which will broaden your skills. This will include digital photography , drawing , acrylic painting, an art gallery experience, and other research.

The Exam ProjectThis is a project, just like the last portfolio project, which evolves from a list of starting points. Again, you develop your skills and interests around your chosen theme. This project lasts from January to Easter in Y11 and it is worth 40% of your final mark.
