The Lighting of the Advent Candle 8:15 Bill and Lois Dolan 11:00 Russel Family Advent Candle Response He Came Down #137

He came down that we may have love; he came down that we may have love; he came down that we may have love; hallelujah forevermore.

*Hymn of Praise Love Has Come #110 Prayer or Praise & Lord’s Prayer Gloria from Angels We Have Heard on High #113 Gloria in excelsis deo! Gloria in excelsis deo!

Prayer of Confession (Unison)

God of the future, you are coming in power to bring all nations under your rule. We confess that we have not expected your kingdom, for we live casual lives, ignoring your promised judgment.

We accept lies as truth, exploit neighbors, abuse the earth, and refuse your justice and peace. In your mercy, forgive us. Grant us wisdom to welcome your way, and to seek things that will endure when Christ comes to judge the world.

(A time for silence for personal confession)

Passing of the Peace May the Peace of Christ be with you. And also with you.

*If able, please stand

Choir Anthem Christmas Prayer Deborah Govenor

O, let us see the sparkle, and let us feel the glow. Help us find the Christmas star above the shopworn snow; and let us hear the music again from up on high, perhaps we’ll catch the whisper of a holy the babies cry: a cry of great compassion that one might since and see, to tell a great Creator cares for folk like you and me. As love came down at Christmas one evening long ago, May he live within our hearts, and may we feel the glow. Prayers of the People Hymn Oh Lord, How Shall I Meet You #104

Offertory Still, Still, Still Salzburg Melody c. 1819 Arr. Mark Hayes

*Doxology Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow #606

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow. Praise him, all creatures here below;

Praise him, above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen

We Hear God’s Word Proclaimed First Scripture Zephaniah 3:14-20 (OT Page 1073) Second Scripture Luke 1:39-56 (NT Page 69) This is the Word of God for the people of God Thanks be to God Sermon Rev. Natasha Sudderth *Affirmation of Faith

We believe there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus; for we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to God’s purpose. We are convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.
