Founded in Round Rock, TX in 2011 by Larry Allhands and Dave Putman and is still veteran owned and operated. This company started when the military unit Dave and Larry were assigned to, The 136th MEB, was mobilized to go to Afghanistan. They needed a digital media server to watch movies while "In Country". This prompted them to look into the digitized media servers and services market. After several weeks of research, he found that there were no products or services that really met their needs, so they began to build one. After a few months of building and testing a suitable prototype, the US Army Signal Officers developed what they consider to be a suitable platform. Dave immediately recognized the high-performance media player as a unique product and asked to be part of its’ future; joining as CTO and Vice President.
Our Story
Baptized By Fire: When naming the company, Dave and Larry wished to pay homage to their roots
and ongoing service in the Texas Army National Guard. The FIREFX name was derived from the
military term “Fire For Effect”. The term “Fire For Effect” is used by spotters for indirect fire weapons
such as mortars or artillery. “Fire For Effect” is the command the observer gives the firing battery after
the shells from one 'ranging' gun hit the target successfully. The firing battery then lets loose with all
guns firing at the same range and azimuth. That is to say the “Fire For Effect” order switches the fire
from one gun for ranging to six or more guns to deliver maximum impact on the target.
The meaning of FIREFX is two fold
• First, we have carefully gauged the market and developed a revolutionary technology platform
allowing us to provide the maximum impact by focusing our resources on the ease of use of our
product line by our partners
• Second, our systems delight the customers with power and flexibility, allowing to show off their
system with robust, feature-full system effects, performance and features found only in the
FIREFX product line.

Our Story
The first generation FIREFX media systems were extensively tested by soldiers in military
environments ranging from US Army facilities in the Continental United States (CONUS) to outposts
in Kabul Afghanistan. In these demanding environments, we refined our product line to a rugged and
reliable offering. Using the military mindset of “two is one, and one is none”, we built our devices to
be as rugged and reliable as possible, coming standard with RAID 5 protected hard drives on our
storage devices and even offering custom builds with redundant power supplies and bonded
Network Interface Cards (NIC).

up to the values which were instilled in
us through our military service in our
daily decision making and
interpersonal interactions. These are
the values of LDRSHP (Loyalty, Duty,
Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, and
Personal Courage).
3. As individuals bear true faith and
allegiance to the State, Nation, and

Network Guardian
Cyber-Security IoT Router/Firewall Securing Home Automation
and Business Networks
• Real Network Security With Recurring Revenue Model
• VLAN separation out of the box
• Pre-configured VPN server and MAC/PC client for integrator remote
access
• Automated intrusion detection/protection system (IDPS) inspects all
traffic for threats
• Recurring revenue model built in. If annual subscription is not paid,
Internet access is shut down.
Home Automation
System networks
have become
increasingly
complex.
This is getting
worse with the
addition of
the IoT.
The rapid rise in system complexity has
outpaced the integrator’s ability to master
the networking skills required to make it
secure and reliable.
The security vulnerabilities inherent in
the smart home IoT products they and
their customers are deploying make the
networks they rely on a potential
liability. System integrators do not have
the time, skill, or money to address this
adequately.
FIREFX solves these problems with
our military-grade NETWORK
GUARDIAN Cyber-Security IoT
Router/Firewall Appliance.
We protect the system integrator’s
network with the same tools and
techniques used by the US Army
Cyber Command in a fully
automated pre-configured platform
customized for the home
automation industry.

Intrusion Detection &
Prevention
The Network Guardian inspects
all traffic traversing between
VLANs and in and out of the
router for known and suspected
malicious content. If a bad actor is
detected behind the firewall, it is
blocked, preventing cross
contamination between device
types and stopping the
introduction of new threats to the
network by a compromised
device.

Standard firewall/routers are like a good
front door. They only keep the honest
people out.
Nearly all hacks happen behind the
firewall. The Network Guardian inspects
all inbound and outbound traffic as well as
any internal traffic between VLANS.
Emerging Threat Profiles are update twice daily with the latest attack
patterns, protecting networks and users from emerging malware threat
vectors.
Traffic identified with malicious payloads or activity is stopped.

FIREFX Media System
Product Line Features
• Modular System: Build the custom system your customer needs a-la-carte. Select
your storage format and size, player format, and even add a media import device if
desired. Upgrades are backward compatible (i.e. upgrading to a 4K player in the
future does not require replacing the storage device, just the player)
• Flexible Media Sources: Download media from an on-line store, import media with
the FIREFX RIMP, or import your digital media with an existing platform or software
you already own. As long as the media is not DRM protected, our system will probably
play it.
• Huge RAID Protected Storage: Our massive HUB storage devices are all protected
by a Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID). FIREFX HUB can survive a disk
failure and continue to operate normally until that disk is replaced.

Installation Notes
• Patent Pending Automated Setup: Install the HUB first. After it is fully booted up and you have
set the IP address to a static address with either DHCP reservation or static assignment, add the
PLAYs and RIMP one at a time. As they are introduced to the network, they will automatically
find and mount the HUB, storing their configurations on a centralized database on the HUB.
• TCP/IP Control Out Of The Box: Assign static addresses to your PLAYs via DHCP reservation
or on the PLAY itself and assign a profile from your control system of choice.
• Dedicated VLAN Not Required (But Recommended): FIREFX is not very sensitive to network
traffic and does not require a dedicated VLAN but best practice is to always separate your media
system traffic when possible.
• UPS Protection: Always use UPS protected power with the HUB. Automated "graceful"
shutdown is configurable with compatible UPS. UPS protection is not vital for players, but it is
best practice to protect these as well when possible.
• HUB Shutdown: Never shut the HUB down from the power switch. Always use the web
interface to stop and then shut down the HUB.

Media Sources
• ITunes Library Import: Third party software available for purchase to import/convert and entire
ITunes video library to the HUB. Links to software available on FIREFX Dealer Forum.
• Optical Disk Import: RIMP (Rackmount IMPort System) is a headless optical media import
system that can import Blu-Ray, DVD, and Music CDs after third party license activated.
• Existing Library: A users existing library can be added to our HUB by dragging and dropping
files to our Movie or TV Show network folders. Most video formats are supported for
unencrypted media. File naming convention guides are in our Installer’s Guide available from
our FIREFX Dealer Forum.
• On Line Movie Store: Third party software pre-configured on the HUB for on-line store access
of over 100,000 titles. Once a third party subscription is activated, media is downloaded
automatically from a wish list generated by your customer. TV shows are subscribed to,
automatically downloading episodes as they air with no commercials.

Frequently Asked Questions
• Is FIREFX A Content Provider? No, FIREFX designs and builds Media Systems. The content
is all provided by end user’s private libraries or third party services or imported through third
party software that must be licensed by the end user.
• What Is The Pricing Structure? Contact us at [email protected] to request your dealer application
to get access to our wholesale pricing and dealer site.
• I Already Have A System, Can I Add A 4K PLAY To It Or Do I Need To Replace The Whole
System? Our 4K PLAYs are backward compatible with equipment in the field. The TCP/IP
control profile is also consistent so you could plug and play a 4K in the place of an existing 1080
PLAY as long as it has the same IP address.
• What Is The Difference Between Your Marine Systems And Standard Systems? Our
Marine Media Systems are designed to run with limited or no Internet access and offer music
through the TV for individual staterooms. Our standard systems assume normal Internet access
and offer our protected music storage accessible by third party media players.

Frequently Asked Questions
• My Customer Has A NAS With Movies, Will FIREFX Support This? No. The media must be
unencrypted and in a format playable by FIREFX Media Systems and the file structure and
naming conventions must conform to FIREFX storage to get proper metadata population.
• What Is The Minimum Number Of Components Required To Deploy A FIREFX Media
System? A fully-fledged FIREFX system requires at least 1 D/RPLAY and 1 HUB. With these
components, a user will be able to download and store media from the online store and play it on
a screen (or screens with an HDMI matrix). To add optical media import, you would need to add
the RIMP. Most importantly the RIMP, DPLAY, and RPLAY will not work without the HUB as it
hosts the centralized database and media renaming software required for operation.
• What About The UPLAY? The UPLAY or Universal Player is no longer in production.
