• Bachelors Degree in Counseling and Human Services.

• Associates Degree in Human Service and Social Work from Chatfield College.

WHAT IS EMPLOYMENT FIRST?

• “community employment shall be the priority and the preferred outcome for working-aged Ohioans with Disability”.

• Instead of Individuals going to workshop after they graduate high school, individuals will be given the opportunity to seek employment in the community.

Employment First

Means I am given a chance to think about having a job in the community as a first choice.

EMPLOYMENT FIRST

All people with developmental disabilities are presumed capable of community employment.

EMPLOYMENT FIRST

• Gives Individuals with disabilities the opportunity to work in the community.

• Gives individuals the opportunity to make informed decisions about where they would like to work.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT SPECIALIST

• Provides services and guidance to individuals working in the community.• Job Coaching and training • Job development• Job placement • Training for work related skills

THE PROCESS

• If your interested your SSA will refer you.

• Qualify for DD services through Venture Productions.

• Once referred and you have qualified for DD services, the individual will met with the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for an intake session.

• An (IPE) individualized service plan will be created.

• Then the community support specialist will work with the individual.

CAREER GOALS

• Met with the individual to get an idea on Career Goals:• What the individual is interested in, • Strengths

JOB DEVELOPMENT

• Job Carving• Job that has been Customized for the individuals personal needs.

VOLUNTEERING

• Great way to learn the individuals skills. • To See what work setting meets the Individual’s Personality.

JOB COACHING

Community Support Specialist observe the person during work activities.

Videos, and other activities to help the individual become job ready.

Guidance to Individuals to help them succeed in their career.
