CAMPER REGISTRATION

Each campsite includes a gravel pad, picnic table and fire pit. All other areas including the riverbank, grassed areas between sites and the road are common areas available to all park users.

• Camping fees (includes tax) $25/night/camping party $22/ night/camping party for seniors

and people with disabilities Includes parking for two licensed vehicles.

Additional vehicle: $12/vehicle/night $11/ vehicle/night for seniors and

people with disabilities

Cash/Debit/Visa/Mastercard accepted.

• The registration booth is open from mid-May until the beginning of September, from 6:15 to 11 am. If the booth is closed, choose an unregistered site (vacant, no permit displayed) and set up your camp by leaving only a tent, trailer or camper. A park attendant will visit your campsite before park closing time or the following morning to complete registration and collect the permit fee.

• Maximum stay is 10 consecutive days. From July through September, a camper may not exceed 30 days total.

CHECKOUT & RE-REGISTRATION BY 11 AM

Camper registration information is collected by Metro Vancouver under 26(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. It is used to administer the campsite registration for the Edgewater Bar Campground at Derby Reach Regional Park.

CAMPING

Edgewater Bar is open for camping March 1 through October 31. Gates are open 6 am to 10 pm daily. Campers should check ahead with Metro Vancouver for temporary campground closures.

There is no entering or exiting the campground after 10 pm. In case of emergency after park hours, contact the Campground Host, located at the entrance to the campground.

Camping is also available at nearby Brae Island Regional Park including fully-serviced reservable sites. Visit www.fortcamping.com or call 604-888-3678.

This well-known spot on the Fraser River offers a host of recreational opportunities for visitors, including riverside camping and day-use facilities.

Enjoy a picnic, wander along the riverbank, watch for wildlife and explore other park features along 9 km of trail.

Feeling energetic? Hike or bike the Fort-to-Fort Trail between the campground and historic Fort Langley.

REGIONAL PARKS

(SELECTED) CAMPING REGULATIONS AND ETIQUETTE

1 Campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Only persons 19 or older may register for a camping permit. The permit holder must occupy the site overnight and is responsible for all members of the camping party including any visitors to their site. Sites cannot be reserved, transferred or held.

2 A camping party may consist of up to eight people maximum, and must include a minimum of one to a maximum of four adults (19 years or older) per campsite.

3 Your RV or tent must be parked or pitched at your campsite by 10 pm. If not, your site will be forfeited.

4 The registered camping party must occupy the campsite overnight. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

5 Visitors to your campsite must leave by 10 pm. Visitors may only park in designated parking areas.

6 ‘Quiet time’ is from 11 pm to 6 am. Regardless of the time, if a noise or activity is disruptive, park officials will require it to cease. Amplified music is not permitted at any time. Generators must be well muffled and may only operate from 9 to 11 am, and 6 to 8 pm.

7 A maximum of two licensed units including only one RV, camper or trailer in total, are allowed at the campsite unless issued an additional vehicle permit. All units must be parked on the gravel portion of the site. Extra vehicles must be parked in the overflow lot.

8 Up to two tents are allowed per campsite. Tents must be set up on the designated gravel pad.

9 The camping party must leave the campsite free and clear when checking out. A camping party is not permitted to leave any vehicles, trailers, RVs, campers or items at the campsite for another camping party.

10 Please make sure you keep your campsite clean. Do not leave containers of food or coolers in the open or unattended. Fire pits are not to be used as garbage receptacles.

11 Universally accessible sites (23, 26) are held for campers displaying a disability placard. These sites are available to other campers only when all other sites are occupied and registered.

12 Registered campers may not switch sites unless authorized to do so by park attendants.

13 Day use in designated campsites is permitted. However, day users must vacate immediately should the site be required for a registered camping party. Vehicle access for campsite day use is not permitted May - Sept.

DISCOVER DERBY REACH

There are 300 hectares of beautiful parkland to explore. Wander along the river through towering maples or discover our province’s early history - all within the regional park.

Hiking Stroll along the Edge Trail, or head over to the Heritage Area and walk the 4 km Houston Trail loop.

CyclingExplore a new segment of the Trans Canada Trail and exhibits west of Edgewater Bar, or pedal east along the Edge Farm Trail and connect to the Fort-to-Fort Trail which takes you into the village of Fort Langley.

PicnickingEnjoy a change of scenery and pack a picnic. Tables are available at the main day-use area at Edgewater Bar in the historic setting of the Heritage Area and at the picnic area at scenic Muench Bar (hike, bike, or paddle in - there is no road access).

Nature AppreciationDiverse habitats support some 300 different species of plants and animals. Listen for a woodpecker hammering, watch for a beaver’s handiwork, look for evidence of owls, smell the sweet fragrance of wild roses.

Cultural DiscoveryDerby Reach is recognized as the site of the first contact between people of the Stó:lõ First Nation and Europeans working for the Hudson’s Bay Company. The Hudson Bay Company built a fort here. One of BC’s first townsites was laid out in the park and later, a pioneer named Alex Houston built his house on land that is now part of the regional park. Houston is credited with starting the Cariboo Gold Rush and is suspected of claiming the fortune of Billy Miner, BC’s most infamous train robber. Imagine living in different times as you browse around the historical features.

PetsPlease leash and clean up after your pets. Take advantage of the off-leash area, locatedjust west of the day-use area.

Vegetation Trees and plants are more fragile than they look; please do not put hatchets, axes or knives into trees, picnic tables or other wooden structures. Removal of plants or deadfall is prohibited.

Cleaning Fish Fish remains attract pests, so please clean up your campsite and use the provided garbage cans. Do not cut bait or clean fish directly on picnic tables.

ParkingPark only in designated areas. There is no parking along roadsides or between campsites. Speed limit in the park is 10 km/h.

No smoking in regional parks except in designated, signed areas. For registered campers in the campground, smoking is permitted on the gravel portion of each campsite only.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Fires Fires are permitted in designated fire pits and fire rings and must be attended when alight. Make sure your fire is out before you leave.

Firewood is for sale at $6 per bundle, available at the registration booth or from park staff. Burning of plastic, metal, glass, lumber, pallets or excess paper is not permitted.

Going Fishing?Many people come here to fish because of the ‘bar’ in the river, a submerged island created by an accumulation of silt which forces fish into a channel closer to shore.

Contact Fisheries and Oceans Canada at 1-877-535-7307 or visit www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca for updates to fisheries regulations and to obtain a Tidal Sports Fishing Licence.

Boat LaunchCanoes, kayaks and car-top boats must be carried from your campsite or parking space. Trailers must not be driven or pushed onto the riverbank or any grassed area between campsites.

There is no motor boat launch at Derby Reach Regional Park. The nearest boat launch is located at Marina Park in Fort Langley.
