Common Core Standards
South Carolina has adopted the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for K-12 English language arts and mathematics.
The CCSS standards provide a consistent framework to prepare students for success in college or the 21st century workplace.

Course Selection Sheets
Soon you and your child will be choosing his/her classes for 6th grade. The course selection sheet looks like…..
Schedules
You will receive your schedule in the mail approximately 1 week before school begins.
You will have opportunities to visit the campus prior to the first day of school.
You will have an opportunity to attend the first day of school with your 6th grader!
Transportation Information DCMS will open at 7:45
a.m.
Students will begin to transition to their homebase at 8:20 a.m.
Class begins at 8:30 a.m.
Car-riders should enter/exit via the Mt. Gallant Road entrance.
The Car pool lane is behind the school – afternoon only. Parents should enter/exit via the Museum Road entrance.
Bus-riders should enter/exit via the Museum Road entrance.

Excited- Excited- There are many great opportunities to look forward to!
Nervous- Nervous- Starting middle school can be a little scary. Don’t worry… lots of
other students (and parents) will feel nervous as well!

the same classes with your friends. You will have opportunities to make new friends in middle school.
