(lunch number) at home each night, regardless of
whether or not they buy lunch often.

CENTERS & VOLUNTEERS
-Volunteers are welcome! Please get and submit your
clearances to the district.
-Throughout the year, I will be reaching out for
volunteers to read to the class, read with individuals
or small groups, help with Sticker Word Books, run a
center, etc.
-When you are volunteering, please always bring
your drivers license for our new “Raptor” visitor
identification system.
STICKER WORD BOOKS
-Basic sight words for 1st grade
-5 books total
-Practice reading word lists at home
-When your child can read a word list
fluently and smoothly, they can bring in the
book to read the word list to a teacher or
parent volunteer.
- Once a student completes a word list, they
earn a sticker on that page!
WELLNESS POLICY/BIRTHDAYS
-While we understand the importance of being able to share a treat for special events, such as birthdays, we would strongly encourage non-edible treats, i.e. pencils, erasers, stickers, etc. Many students have shared non-edible treats with their classmates. Children are delighted to receive a small note pad, pencil, or sticker.
-All birthdays are recognized during morning announcements when children are asked to come to the office for their birthday pencil!
-Summer birthdays are also celebrated during the course of the year (typically as close to half-birthdays as possible). If your child has a summer birthday and there is a specific day/week that you would like us to celebrate it, please let me know!
BOOK IT
Pizza Hut Book-It Program: -Ingomar Elementary school has partnered with Pizza Hut to provide a reading incentive for our students.
-1st Graders are to complete one reading project each month - at home - to earn a personal pan pizza coupon.
-The projects will be assigned and details will be provided at the beginning of each month from October through March.
STUDENT OF THE WEEK
-Every week, we will have a different student that will be our “Student of the Week!” -That lucky person gets to take home the “Student of the Week” bag on the Friday before their designated week. Inside he/she will find a poster to color and fill in special things about him/herself (pictures can be put in a baggy or envelope, or attached directly to the poster). -Bring this bag back on Monday with the completed poster for your child to present to the class. Favorite toys, books, trophies, etc. may also be brought in the bag to be displayed during the week. -Everything will be returned home on Friday. This helps us get to know one another better as we practice oral communication skills!
CLASS MEETINGS (BULLY PREVENTION)
-Held once a week
-Focus on monthly themes (respect, responsibility, etc.), as well as relevant school issues
-Role playing
-IES Bully Prevention Rules:1- We will not bully others.2- We will help students who are bullied.3- We will include students who are left out.4- If we know that someone is being bullied, we will tell an adult at school and an adult at home.
