The mission of Taylor County Adult Learning Center is to offer adult students the

opportunity to improve basic education skills so that the adult is better prepared for their future. We strive to assist our students so

that they can compete for good jobs, support their families, and attain post-secondary

• Enrolling is simple, just call our office at 465-7736 or visit us at 601 David Street, Campbellsville, KY 42718 to take the first step.

• If you are 16, 17, or 18 you must bring a copy of your withdrawal paper from your last school.

Earning your GED...

• Take a Diagnostic (TABE test) – Pinpoints students’ strengths and weaknesses in areas of Reading, Math and Language.

• Once you have completed your TABE test, you will meet with one of our instructors to determine your next step.

GED Information

• The GED Tests are designed to measure learning generally acquired in a high school course of study.

• Scores are determined by administering the test to graduating seniors.

• The content is drawn from content taught in high school.

GED Information • What is a passing score?

– A 410 minimum is required in each of the five areas. The five areas include Science, Social Studies, Math, Writing, and Reading.

– A 450 average is also required, with a total of 2,250 points for all areas.

• What does it cost?

– The cost is $60.00.

What good is the GED?

• Accepted by 95 percent of U.S colleges and universities

• Can make graduates eligible for federal financial aid

• Required by most employers in the Taylor County/Campbellsville area.

What good is the GED?

• GED credential recipients are likely to make $115 more weekly than the adults without a high school education, keeping other variables constant.

• With other variables controlled, GED credential recipients have $3500 more in annual personal income than adults with less than a high school education.

What are the hours of the Adult Education Center?

The Adult Learning Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 4:30. On Tuesdays from September 4th to May 28th, we stay open until 7:00 p.m.

Instructors are available during these hours to assist students with their educational goals.

How long will it take me to get my GED?

• That depends on your skill level. If you have strong reading and math skills, 10th grade or above, it should not take you long to be ready to take the official test. If you have areas in reading or math to improve upon, then it will take you a bit longer.

• If you attend class on a regular basis, you will move through the material in a timely manner.

What is the cost of your program?

• There is no cost to prepare for the GED test. When we register you for the official test we will collect the $60 fee for the testing center.

• If you do not have the $60 fee let your instructor know. Assistance may be available.
