New Course Format

• Big Idea 1 = The process of evolution drives the diversity and unity of life.

• Big Idea 2 = Biological systems utilize free energy and molecular building blocks to grow, to reproduce and to maintain dynamic homeostasis.  

• Big Idea 3 = Living systems store, retrieve, transmit and respond to information essential to life processes.  

• Big Idea 4 = Biological systems interact, and these systems and their interactions possess complex properties. 

AP Exam

• Usually the second week of AP exams– Part 1:

• 63 multiple choice• 6 fill-in

– Part 2:• 2 long free response• 6 short free response

STEM Fair

• An 18 month long research/experiment• Start in Biology GT, finish in Chemistry

GT• Students will be at the point where they

are prepared to collect data by the end of Biology

• All work will be kept in the blue folder given to each student by the teacher
