Welcome to 7th Grade ELA- Mrs. Helfer-Room 102
Transcript of Welcome to 7th Grade ELA- Mrs. Helfer-Room 102
My goal for this year is to help your child to be an independent and responsible learner, as well as, to show him or her how to make responsible choices. To accomplish this goal, we will be making the most of our class time. My expectations for the students this year will be high. They will need to work hard and do their best. This will ensure that we do make the most of our class time.
About Me: I grew up in Ocala, Florida-a small rural town
I am a Disney Fanatic- I love anything Disney and I am always planning my next trip to Walt Disney World. I also LOVE Harry Potter and I am always looking for ways to make my two favorite worlds collide.
I have been teaching 7th Grade ELA at SJH for 6 years.
I have three boys: Alen (20), Jason (14), and Nathan (11)
My husband was in the Navy for twenty years and we have lived in Florida, Texas, Japan, and Mississippi before retiring in Louisiana
I love to read and I will read just about anything. My reading goal for this year is 50 books. I am about ⅓ of the way there!

This website will be a valuable resource to you. Here you can look at the teacher’s webpage, see lesson plans, and check grades. Look for an envelope (looks like a check) to arrive in the mail with a code. This is how you will register for access.
Everything we do in class is graded!
Classwork: Every activity is a graded
activity. I do not believe in “busy” work.
All activities are directly tied to state
standards. With that in mind, not every
assignment will be graded for accuracy.
Some assignments will be graded for
participation, attempting, and trying
his/her/they personal best. Students
are always advised to try to the best of
their ability!
Tests: Tests are given throughout the year and on standards
that are practiced in the classroom. Please check Google
Classroom or JPAMS Page for lesson plans that include test
dates.
Homework: First will be any work that he/she/they did not
complete in class that should have been completed. Each
student will read an independent novel each quarter and
complete a one-page report.
