Homework Time CUSD homework policy is 10/night/grade level. Your child

should spend around 50 minutes each night on their home-work. If it seems that they are truly trying and are spending far more than the 50 minutes, please arrange a conference to speak with your child’s teacher.

Typical Night:– Math (1 page, more if class work was NOT completed

that day)– Reading ( Daily 20 minutes minimum) – Occasional writing that was not completed in class – Spelling Practice (Weekly with exam on Friday).

Expectations– All homework is to be completed

carefully and CHECKED OVER by an adult– Homework reinforces what is being

taught in the classroom.– We are trying to prepare them for the

middle school workload.

Assessment/Grading Scale

100% - 90% A 89% - 80% B 79% - 70% C 69% and below D 59% and below F

Students have the opportunity to correct assignments & tests with a scores of 75% or lower to improve their grades. It is up to them to make the corrections on their time and return it to the teacher.

Organization

Organization– Students are responsible for

keeping their desks, binder, and backpacks organized.

– Students are responsible for relaying important notices sent by the school to the parents i.e., notice of school events, field trips, permission slips, grade reports, meeting notices, etc.

Field Trips

We would love to have the students experience JA Biztown (April 19), MIM, Science Center, Halle Heart Museum and many more field trip opportunities this year.

ALL FIELD TRIPS ARE SUBJECT TO FUNDING.

Please help us fund these experiences through tax credit donations

Parent/Teacher Conferences We would love to meet with you at

anytime to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. A conference before or after school is possible only with a twenty-four hour notice.

First Official Conferences will be Wednesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 27. (You will meet with both your child’s math AND reading teacher.)
