Following these expectations will help us have a successful year.

mean?

• Activity work time
• Share time
Math• Students are participating in Math Daily 3. What does that mean?
• Whole group hands on lesson
• Three rotations/small groups
• Independent
• Teacher led
• Daily choice
Other Subjects
• Writing: writers workshop
• Spelling: Word play and differentiated based on student need
• Science: students are exploring and investigating many different topics
• Social studies: Students will be learning about the world around them.
Homework• Reading: Homework in a bag (fluency read/AR book/comprehension story)
This will come home on Monday and is due on Friday each week.
• Math: Students will be given 2-3 practice sheets each week. This will be given on Monday and is due on Thursday each week.
• Spelling: Students will be given a list of words to study for 2 weeks. They will have some in class and some out of class activities to complete. Tests are every other Friday.
• Please encourage your child to use their time wisely. If they are active in sports or other afterschool activities, they will need to plan to complete their work on evenings when they are not as busy.
FluencyReading: All students will have a fluency read each week. We ask
that they practice this nightly. They will be assessed over the passage each week.
Math: All students will have a baggie in their Take home folder with math facts flashcards. Please have your child practice these nightly to master the facts. They will be assessed over these facts each week. They must pass two times to move to the next level.
We appreciate your willingness to help your child grow in Reading and Math this year!
