The Olympic Torch

The 2012 Summer Olympics Torch Relay will be

run from 19 May to 27 July 2012, prior to the 2012

Summer Olympics. The relay will last 70 days with

66 evening celebrations, six Island visits about

8000 people carrying the torch 300 m each,

starting from Land’s End in Cornwall.

The name of the country and the term "English" derive from

the Old English word for one of the three Germanic peoples that invaded the British Isles in the fifth century C . E ., the Angles. "Britain" and "British" derive from a Roman term for the inhabitants' language of the British Isles, called "Brythonic" or p-Celtic.

national coalition in 1940, and the

Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor

altered his whole prospect of the war.

He went at once to Washington, D.C.,

and with Roosevelt shaped the

subsequently successful Allied strategy

in WWII. After the breakdown of the

alliance, he then alerted the West to

the expansionist threat of the USSR.

The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel

situated on the banks of the River

Thames, in London, England. The entire

structure is 135 meters tall and the wheel

bell of the clock at the north end of the

Thames, connecting the City of London

and Southwark, in central London.

forms the western end of the Pool of

London.
