Vista del Lago High School is committed to providing a positive and relevant learning environment where every student is prepared for 21st century college and career success.
• The school year is divided into two terms
• Each term contains two semesters with midterms and final exams.
• A year-long class is completed in one term
• Each student takes four classes per term, or eight classes per year.

Leadership Opportunities
Leadership Development Class: an elective course open to all students in preparation for Student Government.
Senators: appointed through application process to represent each advisory class.
Student Government Class: elected/appointed officers.
Peer Leadership—SUP Crew: to enhance the confidence, achievements, and self-esteem of the students, as well as strengthen the socio-emotional health of school community as a whole.

➔ Change will be made if course placement is based on grades and diagnostic assessments
Beginning Composition/English Foundations
➔ All 9th grade students are enrolled in English 1.
➔ Students may choose to take the class at the Honors level.
English
➔ All 9th grade students are enrolled in a math class.
➔ Course placement is based on grade in 8th grade math class and math iready scores.
➔ Counselors review final math grades and make adjustments to math requests if needed.
➔ Student who qualify for Integrated Math 1 Foundations are required to also select Integrated Math 1 as their first elective choice.
Math
➔ All 9th grade students are enrolled in Biology.
➔ Students may choose to take the class at the Honors level.
Science
➔ All 9th grade students are enrolled in Fitness 1 class.
➔ Class previously known as Fitness 1 athletic fall/spring is no longer offered. Playing a school sport does not necessitate 4th block PE.
➔ This course is preselected for you when you enter courses into PowerSchool.
Physical Education
➔ Students must pick six electives. Three will be placed in student’s schedule.
➔ Any of the six courses can be used to build a schedule.
➔ Courses to choose from are listed in the course selection guide.
➔ The 4th, 5th and 6th classes are listed on the form only, there is not a place to enter them into PowerSchool.

Course Selection March 6th- counselors present at middle schools. Paperwork passed out to students for completion
March 13th- counselors return to middle schools to meet with each student, answer questions and collect completed paperwork.
