Visitors Welcome to FPC
First Presbyterian Church of Conroe welcomes you. If you are interested in learning more about our church or wish to become active in our ministry teams and activities, please fill out the “Welcome” card located on the inside of the attendance pads and at the Welcome Desk. The completed cards can be placed in the collection plate or given to one of the ushers.
Seafarer’s Christmas Boxes
Seafarer’s Christmas Boxes for the Houston International Seafar-ers’ Center: Presbyterian Women fill, wrap and deliver shoe boxes with toiletries and personal items to the Seafarers’ Center for ships that visit Houston in the weeks before Christmas. This is part of a city-wide faith community outreach project for (mostly) men who are, by occupation, almost always away from their homes in the holiday season. Congregation-wide support is what makes it possi-ble for us to meet a goal of 100 boxes. If you would like to make a contribution toward the purchase of items for the boxes, please make checks payable to the church with a notation that it is for “Seafarer’s boxes”. Shopping will be underway through October, and packing day will be November 5th. Please call the church office (936-756-8884) or Susan Buckley (936-273-0098) for more infor-mation.
New Jesus and Java Bible Study September 8th
It is likely you have a threatening giant in your life... an adversary or stronghold that’s diminishing your ability to live a full and free life. Frozen in the grip of rejection, fear, anger, comfort, or you’ve lost sight of the promise God has for your life.
In the six-session video Bible study, Goliath Must Fall: Winning the Battle Against your Giants (which might take 10-12 weeks), Pastor Louie Giglio uncovers a newfound twist in the classic story of David and Goliath. He shows how the key to living free from our giants is not better slingshot accuracy, but keeping our eyes on the one and only giant-slayer, Jesus. Put your hope in Him, and watch Goliath fall.
Stephen Ministry
Sometimes it takes more than a parka or a blanket to keep another person warm. Sometimes it takes the presence of a caring Chris-tian friend. Stephen Ministers share the warmth of God’s love with those who need it most: the lonely, depressed and grieving. Is God calling you to reach out to those who are hurting? If so, consider serving as a Stephen Minister. For more information about Stephen Ministry, contact B.C. Linton at (936) 689-1510 or Lea Ann Moore at (936) 760-9467 today.
Labor Day Holiday Tomorrow
Please be advised that the Church Office and the Day School will be closed tomorrow, September 2nd, in observance of Labor Day.
Sunday Suppers with the Greens
You’re invited to join the Greens for a Sunday evening supper. Twice a month, September through November, the Greens will host FPC suppers in their home. Each event will begin at 4:30 with light appetizers, followed by a
meal. The menus will vary from week to week and will reflect the changing seasons; from BBQ or burgers on the grill, to comfort-ing soups and stews.
There is nothing required of you, except to sign up in the church office (936) 756-8884. This is a great opportunity for you to meet new friends in the congregation, and for the Greens to open their home to valued guests.
Please check your calendar to see when you wish to attend. Seating for each evening meal is limited to about 20 guests. Reg-istration will open soon. When you sign up, please indicate if you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions.
Sundays from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m.
