At All Masses on October 2 & 3!

“You must know that when you ‘hail’ Mary, she immediately greets

you! Don’t think that she is one of those rude women of whom there are

so many—on the contrary, she is utterly courteous and pleasant. If you

greet her, she will answer you right away and converse with you!”

- Saint Bernardine of Siena

"We honor Mary by praying

the Rosary with love and

devotion, and by radiating

her humility, kindness,

and thoughtfulness

toward others."

- Saint Teresa of Calcutta

"Love the Blessed Mother

and pray the Rosary, for her

Rosary is the weapon against

the evils of the world today."

Next Sunday’s Gospel:

TWENTY-SEVENTH SUNDAY

IN ORDINARY TIME

Next weekend’s Sunday Gospel reading is

provided here, so that we can think and

pray about it, and be ready to receive it into

our minds and hearts when it is proclaimed

at Mass.

The Pharisees approached Jesus and asked,

“Is it lawful for a husband to divorce his

wife?” They were testing him. He said to

them in reply, “What did Moses command

you?” They replied, “Moses permitted a

husband to write a bill of divorce and

dismiss her.” But Jesus told them, “Because

of the hardness of your hearts he wrote you

this commandment. But from the beginning

of creation, God made them male and

female. For this reason a man shall leave his

father and mother and be joined to his wife, and

the two shall become one flesh. So they are no

longer two but one flesh. Therefore what

God has joined together, no human being

must separate.” In the house the disciples

again questioned Jesus about this. He said

to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and

marries another commits adultery against

her; and if she divorces her husband and

marries another, she commits adultery.”

Mark 10:2-12

From the Choir Loft: Return of the

Vocal Quartet at 11am Sunday Masses

The parish quartet has returned to

singing at the 11am Mass each Sun-

day. Although choirs are currently

suspended due to the ongoing

pandemic, the Diocese of Bridgeport

has given permission to parishes

for (4) singers that can be socially

distanced across the church choir loft,

while also maintaining a significant

distance away from the main seating area of the church. The quartet sings

the hymns, acclamations, and antiphons of the Mass, along with choral

works that are carefully chosen as a meditation on the readings of the

day. Additionally, the quartet sings a choral setting of the Kyrie and

Agnus Dei of the Mass, drawn from the Catholic Church’s rich liturgical

patrimony. See the weekly worship aid for citations and translations of

the pieces being sung by the quartet.

Lord, Creator of Life, you have

blessed us with the privilege of

bringing new life into the world.

May your Holy Spirit open our

hearts and minds to recognize Your

special gift of children, and Your great love for each of us
