Introduction from the President of St Ives Photographic Club
On behalf of the members of the St Ives Photographic Club I am pleased to welcome you to Interprint 2019. This is the 37th annual competition and it has rightly gained a reputation for high standards in the East Anglian Region. Interprint has inspired and stimulated many of us through the years, encouraging us to reach to new heights of excellence in our photography. I am confident that this year will be no exception.
Once more we express our thanks to the team who have worked hard to organise and stage this event – Alice Kendrick, Richard Berridge, Chris Coakley, Tim Norman, Karen Laws, Dave Norman and Hayley Howatt in particular. Thanks too to those who have provided catering, helped with all the arrangements on the day, and to the Free Church for a great venue.
Our thanks also go to Gary Dean who has supported the new Interprint team this year after running Interprint for 19 years.
Twenty eight clubs are participating this year and we look forward to seeing the chosen images from the members. Without the support of these clubs the competition would not be the event it has become. We express our gratitude to you for your continued participation.
We are pleased to welcome our judge for this year – Rosemary Wilman HonFRPS AFIAP BPE5* APAGB. Rosemary has been a keen photographer since 1987 with many outstanding achievements including 2 years as President of the Royal Photographic Society. You can read more about Rosemary elsewhere in the programme.
The support of our sponsors is vital to enable us to continue our programme of competitions, exhibitions, talks and other events. We thank them sincerely for their loyalty and generosity. When you respond to one of their adverts, as we hope you will, please encourage them by mentioning that you saw it in our Interprint 2019 programme.
I do hope that you will enjoy not only the competition but also the interaction with other enthusiastic photographers and the lovely town of St Ives. May the best prints win the day for their photographers and club!

Photography at St Ives Photographic Club
The St Ives Photographic Club is an active and friendly club with indoor meetings held at the St Ives Free Church on Tuesday evenings, meeting at 7:30pm for an 8pm start, from September to April together with an active summer programme of outdoor events.
At the start of the winter season, we covered landscape photography with a very interesting talk from professional landscape photographer, Justin Minns. We covered macro, travel and wildlife photography with a mix of talks from external speakers and from members.
Competition nights have proven very popular with an ever-increasing number of entries, especially in the DPI category. Our President’s Challenge Trophy attracted a very high number of excellent images for the theme of ‘Red’ with a huge range of well observed and confidently taken subjects.
This season we also covered post processing using Lightroom and Photoshop with expert advice from both within the club and external speakers.
We have continued the critique evenings to primarily help new members get feedback on their images without the pressure of a competition. These have proved to be very effective.
The busy winter programme is followed by a summer one with weekly walks, history talks and other practical outdoor activities.
This year we had an excellent annual exhibition with 240 prints on display over two days. The exhibition was very well attended with some great feedback from the public. We also continued to support the St Ives ArtsFest in December with an exhibition of prints over two days.
Guests will always be welcome at any of our meetings at the very reasonable rate of £3 including refreshments or why not come along to one of our summer walks which are free. To see what exciting events are coming up, have a look at the St Ives Photographic Club website https://stives-photoclub.org.uk/programme.
