CALL TO CELEBRATION 9:00 Karen Hostetter10:30 Simon Thomas
Let us rejoice, for the morning has dawned. A new day has been born, and we are newly alive to enjoy it. We know the beauty of God’s creation and the
wonder of the human family. We remember those whose love has shaped our lives and those whose struggle for justice has been unsleeping even in nightmares of loneliness.
WELCOMEWe are committed to transforming the church and the world into a full expression of Christ’s inclusive love.
Dayspring UMC is a Reconciling Congregation. All people, regardless of age, sex, race, color, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, economic status or ability are welcome into the full life of our congregation. Dayspring affirms the value and worth of all persons, recognizing that everyone is a child of God. We call all to live by and attest to gender equality and to observe Jesus’ principles of love and non-violence in all our relationships.Together we are on a mission to make God’s world more peaceful, just, compassionate and inclusive.The presence of children is a gift to our church and they are a reminder that Dayspring is growing. All children are welcome during our services. If you prefer, children’s Sunday School and nursery care is available. Children in Pre-K through 6th grade will meet in the Narthex following Children’s Time and be escorted to their classes. Parents are encouraged to walk with first-timers to their classroom. Please note: Our services are streamed online. If you prefer not to potentially be on camera, please sit toward the back of the section to your left (farthest from the choir). Dayspring UMC reserves the right to use any livestreaming, video recording, or photography from any event sponsored by Dayspring UMC without the expressed, written consent of those included within the live streaming, video recording, or photography. We strive to use these images in safe and positive ways.
We gather in our church to worship God, to share prayers and gifts, to pledge ourselves to God’s work in the world. May God bless us, so that what we do in this time
together may be honest, sacred, and filled with hope.
OPENING HYMN verses 1-2Christ, Whose Glory Fills the Skies Hymnal #173
OPENING PRAYERBecause you made the world, And intended it to be a good place, And called its people your children; Because, when things seemed at their worst, You came in Christ to bring out the best in us; So, gracious God, we gladly say:
Goodness is stronger than evil, Love is stronger than hate, Light is stronger than darkness, Truth is stronger than lies.
Because you have promised to hear us, And are able to change us, And are willing to make our hearts your home, We ask you to confront, forgive and encourage us. Then let us cherish in our hearts That which we proclaim with our lips:
Goodness is stronger than evil, Love is stronger than hate, Light is stronger than darkness, Truth is stronger than lies.
God, hear our prayer, and change our lives until we illustrate the grace of Christ who makes all things new.
Amen.
RESPONSE verse 3Visit then this soul of mine;
pierce the gloom of sin and grief; fill me, Radiancy divine, scatter all my unbelief;
more and more thyself display, shining to the perfect day.
