Classroom Teachers and the School Learning Team initially address learning concerns. Further supports in assessment and identification of learning issues may be available through the Calgary Board of Education.
Students may qualify for speech/language/fine motor skills therapies through CBE specialists, Community Outreach of Pediatrics and Psychiatry in Education (COPE) or Calgary Health Services.

School Supports: Spanish visiting teachers, Educational Assistants, School Assistants, Noon Supervisors, Practicum student teachers (Teaching and Educational Assistants)
English as a Second Language support is available to facilitate development of English language skills. Support provided is dependent upon student need.
Special needs students with an Individual Program Plan are supported by the teacher and Student Learning Team.

Parents are welcome to come and volunteer.
All parents require a valid police clearance in order to volunteer.
You need to provide government issued photo ID to apply for a police clearance.
The first step of the process is required to be done at the school and the second part on your own (on-line or at the police station).
You can apply for a police clearance in the spring so that you will be cleared by September.
Police clearances are valid for 5 years.
You must have lived in Canada for at least 1 year before you can apply and you must also have a current Calgary address.

(Established annually by Board of Trustees in late Spring.)
2018-19 fees are $335 for alternative programs. For designated regular programs, bussing is free. Form must be completed and fee submitted prior to end of June or as soon as registration is completed if after June 30.
Note: Fees may change for 2019-2020.

Kindergarten children have two bus routes.
AM Program - Early morning and mid-day or

Kindergarten class placement (morning or afternoon) is determined by address and established by Transportation Department in late June.
My 1st Ride Program is offered by the CBE and Southland Transportation and First Student bus companies. Registration information is posted on the web and will be available at the Office.

Children who will be taking the bus will be placed in an AM or PM class based on residential community.
For children who are not taking the bus, parents will be asked at registration if they have a preference for morning or afternoon Kindergarten.
We are unable to accommodate requests for a specific teacher or classroom.
If there are more requests than we can accommodate for either AM or PM, we will draw names.
Parents will be informed of their child’s placement at the orientation meeting May 2019.
