Think about how detail and imagery create setting and characterization.

Create a plot

Transform your descriptions of setting and characters into a third-person narrative.

Include plenty of details and images from all five senses.

Add to the narrative something odd, weird, magical, or improbable that didn’t really happen.

Create a plot

Finish the story in a way that makes sense, but avoid the “I woke up and it was all a dream” type of ending.

Make sure that any conflicts in the story are resolved at the end.

Think of a dramatic incident in your life or that of a person you know.

Plot the exposition, rising action, climax (turning point), falling action, and resolution of the incident.
