• Unanimous agreement that regional technical meetings on medicines management should take place

Meeting Objectives

• Share experiences about how countries are or planning to incorporate medicines coverage into their UHC strategies

• Develop a shared understanding of how sound medicines benefits design and management can contribute to cost containment and improved care

• Build a case for evidence-based decision making in medicines benefit design and management

• Share our thinking and plans for a guidance manual and options analysis tool

Structure

• An interactive workshop designed as a place for people to share and discuss ideas

• Structured sessions, including individual speakers, panels, and facilitated group discussions

• Visual capture of key discussion points through real-time graphic illustration

Regional Focus

• Focus on shared concerns and experiences in the region• Learn from your neighbors• Share your major “take-aways” from the meeting

– Each of the 8 Southern Africa countries should select a spokesperson to share country thoughts on:• The most important points learned at the meeting• What would be needed to achieve UHC objectives in their country

– Write down your ideas during the meeting and work with your spokesperson on your collective response

– Thoughts will be shared at the last plenary session on Tuesday

• Build networks for ongoing exchange of ideas
