GBIC plans
● In the Spring term, April 2021, we plan on offering an MSRE GBIC global trip.● Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic?● Global Programs Office, in consultation with Programs Office, is preparing contingency
plans in the event travel is not possible.○ However, it is very difficult to make decisions at this time.○ Pepperdine University is continuously monitoring how the pandemic progresses.○ The decisions will be made & be updated to the students as we have more
information.● Questions?
○ Chloe Weatherill, MSRE April 2021 GBIC Program [email protected], 310.506.4476
Remote Teaching
Classes will be delivered online (otherwise circumstances change)
● Remote teaching is not like online degree teaching.○ We will have personal real-time interactions, relationship building, networking etc.,
similar to face-to-face classes.■ Classes are mostly synchronous manner (vs. asynchronous recorded videos).■ Hangout times with faculty.■ Online real-time events.
→ We are trying to make remote learning as close as to face-to-face learning experience.
● Besides that, online-based communication, technology and working skill sets, such as Zoom interview, presentation, webinar, will become the baseline in the future career. You should get used to those technologies throughout this program.
Remote Teaching
To improve remote teaching experience...
● In addition to traditional teaching platform, such as Sakai & Zoom,● We are one of the few programs using the “Top Hat” platform.● Top Hat helps to create more engaging
virtual classrooms (www.tophat.com).
PREA Election
Pepperdine Real Estate Association (PREA)
● Events: Guest speakers, alumni events, networking events, etc.● Elected Positions:

University Health Insurance Requirement
In order to limit undue financial and academic stress related to illnesses during the academic year, the University requires students to carry a U.S. based health insurance plan.
To meet this requirement, new and returning students must select one of two options on the AHP Insurance Dashboard:
1. Confirm the SHIP option by clicking the ENROLL button, or2. Provide proof of an existing health insurance plan by clicking the WAIVE button
Students can access the AHP Insurance Dashboard on the Health Insurance webpage at pepperdine.edu/healthcenter.
Students can learn more about SHIP or access the SHIP brochure by visiting Academic HealthPlans’ customer care online resource center at pepperdine.myahpcare.com.
Questions? Contact [email protected].
Note: International students who will attend online classes from their home country will not be required to enroll in SHIP or provide proof of a US-based health insurance plan.
Fall Semester Deadlines
AHP Insurance Dashboard is Open: May 15-August 15
SHIP Charges Post to Student Account: August 16
Grace Period: August 16-September 5
Final Waiver Deadline: September 5
Students who enroll in SHIP for the fall term will automatically roll over to spring/summer enrollment but have the option to waive the spring/summer SHIP through the AHP Insurance Dashboard between November 15 and February 1.
